Little Dragon has been crossed out from the Upcoming heading on the right side. :( The show is strictly 21+. I was hoping that I could somehow bypass the system but I don't think it'll happen. Hopefully they'll come back to the SLC another time and play at an all ages venue... or wait to come back until I'm 21. I'm hoping for the former. Skrillex was added to the list and I'm pretty stoked on that. From First to Last used to be one of my favorite bands and when Sonny left to become Skrillex, I basically shit from excitement. Hahah.

I'm not sure that anyone even reads my blog anymore. But if someone out there is reading this, definitely check out some of these songs I've been digging recently.

Band of Horses - Infinite Arms

Gorillaz - HillBilly Man

Sufjan Stevens - Heirloom

Bon Iver - Woods

The Lonely Island - I Just Had Sex

I got a ukulele for Christmas. So far I can kind of play the demo version of Talking Bird by Death Cab for Cutie that they released on their newest EP. Someday I want to be able to play like this girl:

Eminem feat. Rihanna - Love the Way You Lie

Bruno Mars - Just the Way You Are

People are probably going to read this and either think I'm a total bitch or that I don't know the meaning of Christmas.. but I am pretty pissed about the gifts (or lack thereof) that I got from my uncles.

Each year my Uncle Jeff gets really bad gifts for everybody at Christmas. I understand that his family doesn't have a lot of money because his latest wife put them in hella debt when she decided she needed to take college classes and become some kind of nurse secretary thing. But I don't understand the point of wasting ten dollars on shit like crossword puzzles and ugly Walmart t-shirts - things that people don't really need - when you can just give them $10 or a gift card to somewhere. It just seems like a waste. You're putting good money to bad use by wasting it on things that aren't going to be used. This year they got me a $1 t-shirt that my aunt found somewhere, some kind of weird fluffy socks, and a hairbrush... I don't even want to know what was going through her head as she was shopping for me if she thinks these things are needed by me. Last year they got me a book of crossword puzzles. The year before that I got a computer game.. a really cheap, stupid one intended for children. It's just aggravating considering I'm a poor college student living on my own. I could use $10, not a hairbrush.

My Uncle Greg, who isn't broke and got everyone really nice gifts this year, didn't get me anything. He gave all of the adults homemade jam and gift cards and all of the kids got candy and games and whatever. I didn't get anything. His excuse was that I'm an adult now and he didn't figure I would like homemade jam. .......Seriously? I love homemade jam. Corinne's dad makes it and it's pretty friggin' fantastic. The least they could have done was given me a gift card like everyone else.

I think I'm irritated mostly because I spent my own money on all of my relatives to buy them nice things and I wasn't gifted in the same manner. I have a $400 insurance payment due the first week of January. I would probably have money to pay for that if I hadn't been a good family member and bought presents for everyone. But now I don't and my mom is pretty peeved that she's going to have to pay for it.

Now that I've blogged about it, that issue is out of my system. I'm not going to think about it anymore. I'm just going to lay in bed, watch the Office and play my ukulele, and hope that the next two weeks fly by. I'm ready to see my friends back in Utah and start another semester of school.

Also, because it's been a while since I've done a #funfact:
Does He Love You by Rilo Kiley makes me cry. It has since the summer before my junior year. I re-downloaded all of Rilo Kiley's music last night and discovered an acoustic version of the song. It's slower and more heartfelt which, of course, made me cry all the harder.

Rilo Kiley - Does He Love You? (Acoustic)

Rilo Kiley - Does He Love You?

OH AND here's what I started out the day wearing:

But mom didn't dig the cut-up Girl Scouts shirt so this is what I wore for the rest of the time...

I have such style.

memorable moments

Grades don't have to be posted until the 29th.. So far I have an A in French and CR in Cycling, giving me 5 passed credits and a 4.0 GPA. Hopefully the GPA won't drop too much when they get my other classes up.

I made it to Missouri.. Not that I want to be here. So far all I've done is play my ukulele and watch the Office. I think tonight Rose is coming over and tomorrow we're going to Chillicothe for some mini-shopping. And those are the only plans I have so far. What an exciting break.

While I was taking my first bath since the beginning of August, I came up with a list of memorable moments from the last year. It's been an interesting year. ;) (sarcastic wink)

Memorable Moments of 2010
  • Losing all of my best friends (Justin, Jennie, Leslie).
  • Becoming best friends with Tiffany, then breaking that off.
  • Quitting Royal Inn.
  • Moving to Utah on my own.
  • Realizing a boy didn't want me. At all.
  • Realizing I didn't need him to make me happy.
  • Meeting/making great new friends (too many to list).
  • Eating bagels, black beans, mango, sushi, and other foods for the first time.
  • Puking at Kappa Sig.
I couldn't not add the puking one. Seriously going to be a highlight of my life.

I also made a new haiku while I was in the bath last night.. It's dedicated to Corinne, who absolutely loved it. ;) It's pretty golden

A rain droplet fell;
Landed on top of my head.
I was in the bath.

finals week

Remember when I used to have nothing better to do than blog on a daily basis? If only we could go back there...

Finals week is kicking my ass. I spent the weekend watching movies and not studying, so my French final was really stressing me out. Stu spent the night Tuesday and I didn't accomplish anything, so I had to write my entire film final Wednesday morning before work. Then today I'm going to work and I realize, "Hey, I have a final in 24 hours that I haven't even considered studying for." So then I get off work, go to JCPenney, eat at the Olive Garden, and come home and watch tutorials on how to do the reject. What is my problem? I'm going to straight-up fail tomorrow! Jenny and I have a study sesh planned for 10:30 at Einstein's but I feel like it's only going to stress me out more rather than make me more confident. Bah.

In 29 hours Corinne and I will be on our way to Denver. Eight hours of pure Corinne-Sam time. It's going to be heaven.

In 102 hours I'll be on a plane flying towards Kansas City... I wish I didn't have to go home for break. I'm seriously so bummed about it. There are only 2-3 people I really want to see when I go home. Well, I want to see more, but the likelihood of that happening (if Thanksgiving Break was anything to go by) is very slim. Plus, what am I going to do? I won't have a car and Trenton just sucks balls. At least here there are places to go, things to see... Ugh! If my parents loved me, they would move closer so I never have to set foot in Missouri again.

It's almost 1:30am and I have to be up in 7 hours. If I lay down now, I'll probably finish playing Mahjong and fall asleep around 2 - 2:15 at the latest. Goodnight, world.

hipstamatic

It feels like it's been forEVER since I last blogged.

Anyway. I discovered this app called 'Hipstamatic' and I really dig it. Actually, that's an understatement. I'm head over heels in love with it. Corinne, Scott and I watched The Bounty Hunter tonight and I barely saw any of it because I was so busy trying to find good combinations of lens/film/flash.

Corinne and Scott.

Christmas décor!

Balter.

I'm going to keep messing with it and see how many sweet ass photos I can produce. Notice the last caption? Balter. I just checked the back of the painting and apparently I'm somewhat retarded, because I've been spelling and pronouncing his name wrong for months. I thought it was Baldar. Ah well!

Corinne and I went to Shogun around 1am for some sober sushi. It was yummy, as always. Hahah, I've completely forgotten how to blog... I can't remember anything I've done lately. Why do I suck so hard!?! Tant pis. Gah.

I have my French final on Tuesday (1-3), a film project due Wednesday, and my math final on Friday (3:30-5:30). I was studying la vocabulaire chapitre préliminaire last night and I started getting so worried cause I could not remember anything. I'll probably spend all of Saturday and Sunday mainly studying for French. That leaves almost no time for me to go to the theatre and see 5 non-mainstream films that I can journal about for my film project. Gah. I hate finals.

It's nearly 3am. I'm going to bed.

stats?

I found out that I can check my blog's stats out and see how many views I've had. Check this shit out:
Whooooa! Over 2,000 views. Ridiculous.

Things that happened this weekend:
  • I enabled comments for everyone, not only for people with a Google account. So comment away.
  • Corinne and I went to the outlets in Park City and shopped up a storm.
This weekend has been so dull. Partied it up on Friday night (bad decision), spent the majority of Saturday waiting around for Corinne to stop skiing, and then spent 12 hours in Zack/Max/Stu/Dan's suite on Sunday doing homework and playing video games. I got all of my French homework done - including that big ass oral presentation I've been flipping shit over for the last couple of weeks - and worked on some math, but didn't even attempt to start studying for the film final I have tomorrow night. I freaking suck.

happy birthday coco!

992 viewers? Ooooh, I'm excited for our 1,000 viewer party. Party in my room, 62112. I'll supply the cake, you bring your own beer and dranks. It'll be fun.

So I went home for Thanksgiving and Black Friday. It was epic amounts of boring. My uncles and their wives came over for lunch on Thursday, we watched Up, then they left and I worked on my French homework. I had lunch at El Nopal with Callie and Shawna on Friday, went home to do more homework, then had Applebees for dinner with Rose. Lunch was disgusting compared to all the Mexican food I've had to eat in SLC. Dinner was actually really good and it felt nice to catch back up with Rose.

Now I'm home alone and still bored. Dan and I spent all day together yesterday after he picked me up from the airport. We went to Jiffy Lube, unpacked his bags, had dinner at the Olive Garden, then picked up Ryan and went to the Freelance Whales/Miniature Tigers concert. It was pretty freakin' incredible. I was just so tired from everything that'd happen already and my lack of sleep the night before, so I wasn't really into doing anything other than standing still and zoning out with the music. Haha.

The three of us came back after the concert and watched Moulin Rouge.. I passed out not far before the end and woke up during the end credits with "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return" markered on my forehead.. Thanks guys. Maybe I should stop falling asleep when people are still in my room. Last week I woke up with a pumpkin next to me and 100 texts from Chase saying "you're cuddling with a pumpkin!"

I (and possibly Dan) am going to go pick up Joe from the airport in about an hour. It's snowing again. :\ So I'm unhappy and don't want to go at all. But I need to put gas in my car and be a good friend. I've also got to pick up Corinne the Birthday Girl! later tonight. Her present probably won't come in the mail for another week or so, so I'm planning to take her out for a birthday dinner when she gets home and buy her some more Diet Mountain Dew. :)

Comment, disaient-ils,
Avec nos nacelles,
Fuir les alguazils?
- Ramez, disaient-elles.

Comment, disaient-ils,
Oublier querelles,
Misère et périls?
- Dormez, disaient-elles.

Comment, disaient-ils,
Enchanter les belles
Sans philtres subtils?

Guitar Song
"How," he said,
"In a poor skiff at sea,
Can the coastguards be fled?"
"You must row," said she.

"How," he said,
"Can the memory be free
Of strife, sorrow, and dread?"
"You must sleep," said she.

"How," said he,
"Can one turn a fair head
Without strange sorcery?"
"You must love," she said.

---------

Jeune fille, l'amour, c'est d'abord un miroir...
Jeune fille, l'amour, c'est d'abord un miroir
Où la femme coquette et belle aime à se voir,
Et, gaie ou rêveuse, se penche;
Puis, comme la vertu, quand il a votre cœur,
Il en chasse le mal et le vice moqueur,
Et vous fait l'âme pure et blanche;

Love, child, is first of all a mirror...
Love, child, is first of all a mirror where
Girls like to see themselves, flighty and fair;
There they like to pause, playful or demure;
Like virtue, next, it takes hold of the heart,
Drives away sin, makes sneering vice depart,
And leaves your spirit white and pure;

Then you go down a step, you start to slide -
And it's a chasm! Vain to grip the side:
In the flood you go whirling down! -
Pretty, pure, fatal - don't rely on it!
Children, drawn to a river bit by bit,
Admire themselves, and bathe, and drown.

Dan's story

Once upon a time there was a buffalo named Pinky. Pinky ran a Denny's in southwestern Nebraska.
One day there was an incredible blizzard and the electricity went out. For weeks Pinky struggled to keep the business open, but with little success.
Finally after days without sleep, Pinky was feeling defeated. He called all the employees to a meeting and told them that he was proud.
Proud of each and every one of them and their dedication to Denny's and its world-renowned customer satisfaction.
Pinky decided to reward them all with a couple days off (since the power wouldn't be on for at least another week).
Stunned by his generosity and defiance of Denny's "Open 24/7" policy, the employees went home with smiles on their faces.
The following Monday, when the power came back on, the employees returned well-rested and excited for work because they knew their boss was a good guy.
But what they found was a restaurant in shambles. The cash register was missing, tables had been destroyed, and several windows were broken.
As the employees waded through the wreckage, one screamed and pointed to the back toward the kitchen. There hung the corpse of Pinky.
Later a police report would explain that due to the "Open 24/7" policy of the Denny's franchise, no Denny's restaurants have locks.
With the power out and all the employees at home, 4 homeless men had broken in and destroyed the restaurant that had so often refused them bathroom use.
Upon arriving at work on Monday to open the restaurant, Pinky discovered the wreckage. Unable to cope with the disaster that had once been his work, and the imminent loss of his job and subsequent inability to support his family, Pinky had hung himself.
And THAT is why buffalo are no longer allowed to work at Denny's within the continental US.

900+ celebration

The blog has officially hit 900 viewers. Love it. Let me just gift you with some pictures I found on my Desktop when I was cleaning it.

I'm leaving for Missouri on Wednesday after math class. I'm pretty excited to see Nick and scarf down my grandma's vegetable soup! It's not snowing in Missouri either, so that's good news. It started dumping last night and apparently Utah is supposed to get 36-58 inches more between now and Tuesday night. o_o I'll be back in the SLC Saturday afternoon and later that night Dirty and I are going to see Freelance Whales and Miniature Tigers at Kilby Court. :)

Oh! N'insultez jamais une femme qui tombe!

I think I've figured out what poem I want to use for my oral presentation in French at the beginning of December. It's by Victor Hugo and is called "Oh! N'insultez jamais une femme qui tombe!" or "Never revile a woman for her fall!"

French version:
Oh!

A toi, riche! a ton or!

English version:
Never revile a woman for her fall!
Who knows what burdens made the poor thing crawl?
Who knows how long her hunger had to fight?
When blasts of hardship shake her sense of right,
Many a girl - haven't you known her? - stands
Firm a long time - holds on with worn-out hands;
As we see on a branch-tip, sparkling bright,
A drop of rain gleaming with heaven's light,
Tossed about with the tree, trembling and hurt,
A pearl before its fall - and after, dirt!

The fault is ours - yours, rich man, with your pay!
And dirt contains pure water to this day.
How can that drop of water leave the slime,
Regain the luster of its former time?
All things can rise back to the light above;
They need only a ray of sun or love!

My family's probably going to get really annoyed with me over Thanksgiving break because I'm going to be reciting this poem, along with Victor Hugo's life story, at every free moment. Our presentations have to be entirely spoken in French and completely memorized. That's a lot of work and effort I'm not normally willing to put into a school project. Bah!

moab!

I don't want to update but Werner won't gtfo my back. I hate you.

Bottom Joe, Coco, Dirty Dan and I on top of a rock.

So Corinne, Dirty, Bottom, Werner and I went to Moab for the weekend to see some of Coco's family. It was preeeeeetty fun. We went on a hike through Arches National Park on Saturday morning, then followed it up with some sand sledding and Subway lunches. We had dinner at a place called Pasta Jay's then saw Megamind for the second time, which I slept through.. (y) We went to church the next morning, then finished our trip by going on an offroading adventure through the mountains in a Hummer.

Dirty, Coco and I under the Surprise Arch.

Scott scored my team a point Friday night! Then Corinne and I decided to overrule Werner and count my two missing points from the Halloween party since his rules weren't made until after I had scored. And because they were made out of jealousy and anger, making them unfair. Just for records' sake, here are the current standings:

First place: Bottom Joe and John (24)
Second place: Sam and Scott (22)
Third place: Dirty Dan and Ryan (17)
Tied for fourth: Corinne and Werner/Chase and Keaton (16)

In other exciting news, the first part of the Deathly Hallows comes out this week. I ordered tickets for the midnight premiere this morning for Corinne, Dirty, Bottom, Ryan and myself. Corinne, Dirty, Zack and I are also going to go to a free showing on Saturday at 7:35pm that's being put on by HRE. I'm pretty pumped for both shows. Even if the movie sucks the first time around, you can't beat free tickets. Plus I'll probably be hellacious amounts of tired Thursday night and won't be as alert for the premiere as I should be, so seeing it on Saturday will make up for whatever I missed.

O HOHOHOHOHO

Just wanted to start things off right by showing you my face. ;) Today was a good day. I'm not sick anymore, I didn't fail my written French midterm, and Corinne and I saw Reel Big Fish!

Corinne bought us some crazy expensive tickets to see Reel Big Fish so I couldn't not go! It was just going to be the two of us and her friend Jordan escorting us cause In the Venue is near the ghetto part of town, but we ended up taking quite the party. Dirty, Jobey-Wan Kenobi, White Chase, Corinne and I went in one car and we got Matt and Rosie to come too. Emily and the Keep were there too, but no one likes them so it doesn't matter. Koo Koo Kanga Roo played first and were actually really funny to watch.  You can download all of their songs for free on their website. Definitely listen to Cody the Coyote, What's That You Say?, and Rollin' in the Minivan. Hahaha.

What's That You Say?

Suburban Legends played next. They were good and dancey and started the skank pits. Next up were The Aquabats. They also put on a really good show. I was so happy that they played Pool Party before bouncing. I loved that song back in middle school or so and its still the only song I know by them. But I'll probably be downloading their albums. They just came out with a new EP that has three whole songs on it if anyone is interested. ;) Then came the night's main attraction: Reel Big Fish! They were really brilliant. I only know 3, maybe 4 of their songs, but it was exciting nonetheless. White and Dirty accused me of being a party pooper cause I didn't dance for the majority of the night. I just don't feel comfortable when I dance to songs I don't know. I danced to Pool Party and the RBF songs I know! Jerks. Anyway, it was fun. Third time seeing RBF but definitely topped the other times. Warped shows never compare to actual tour shows.

Corinne's birthday is coming up soon (November 28). So we were talking about it and what I should get her for a present. It got me thinking about what I want to do for my birthday, even though it isn't until the middle of March. We're going to try to get a group of people together to see the Jazz vs. Nuggets game on March 3rd. It would be a total success if we weren't going for the classy $150+ seats in the lower levels. So far Corinne, Bottom Joe, and I are the only ones willing to put down so much money. Oh and Emily Muhoberac, my lovely friend from Branson, said she'd fly out to see the game with us! I'm willing to buy her game ticket if she gets the plane ticket. :) I'm exciiiited! I have to spend the next 5 months learning everything about basketball that I can so that I'm not dropping mega cash for nothing.

Also, note that two teams have increased by one point. Corinne got a point this morning and Keaton apparently got one while we were at the concert. I'm proud. If only Werner and White Chase had game like their teammates.

spring 2011 schedule

I'm trying to figure out what classes I want to take next semester. So far my schedule is looking like this:
  • 8:35-9:25 History 1700 - American Civilization (3 credits) MWF
  • 9:40-10:30 French 102 - Beginning French II (4 credits) MTWH
  • 10:45-12:05 Biology 1006 - World of Dinosaurs (3 credits) TH
  • 10:45-11:35 CLCV 1550 - Classical Mythology (3 credits) MWF
  • 6:00-10:00pm Film 3120 - History of Film II (4 credits) T
17 credit hours? I may be killing myself.. but it sounds fun to me. And it won't interfere with my work schedule except for the film class. But hopefully it won't matter if I'm a few minutes late to class each week.

standings

I added a new heading on the right side of the page called "Standings"
Basically, it's so that everyone can keep up with the competition that's going down in the dorms to see who can make out with the most people before the end of the school year. Rules were instated on Sunday because Werner is a sore loser and didn't like my methods of getting to the top.
  1. The make-out session must be longer than 10 seconds.
  2. Each person is limited to 3 make-outs per night.
The first was created because I made out with two people for less than 10 seconds and Werner's doesn't think they should count. The second was also made for me, because I made out with 5 people Saturday night and Werner's jealous that he didn't get any. If you noticed that there are two numbers beside my name, it's because everyone thinks I should only get 2 points from Saturday (bringing my score to 18) while my actual count is at 20. I'm going to go by the bigger number because it makes me sound like a winner (or a slut, I'm fine with either title).

Upcoming events:
  • 11/3 - Doctor's appointment after work, Inception or Toy Story 3 at 7 in Sugarhouse
  • 11/4 - French quiz at 10:45, Advisor meeting at 1:30
  • 11/5 - Megamind premier.. Corinne and I totally want to go.
  • 11/9 - Reel Big Fish concert with Corinne

wombinations and such

Upcoming events:
  • 10/30 - Lunch with Nick Pranno!, Halloween party at Kappa Sig.
  • 11/1 - Math quiz I won't be ready for.
  • 11/4 - Advisor meeting to register for classes.
  • 11/9 - Reel Big Fish with Corinne.
If my check has gone through by the time I get out of work tomorrow, I'm going to haul ass down to the Apple Store and get myself one of those fancy little Apple TV's. I am so excited. Dance party in my room!

OH. SPEAKING OF MY ROOM...

EMILY MOVED OUT
and Corinne's beautiful face moved in.

About god damn time. As she was moving her shit out of my room, the above happened. I was getting so sick of her annoying little hints about going to The Keep and how much fun she has with the guys there. Other things that bothered me about her: Her attention-seeking sighs that I refused to give in to, her lack of personality and sense of humor, and the way she would turn the heat on high and open one of the windows. Oh and how she would talk to people about how she doesn't understand why I hate her or what she did to deserve my behavior. She just really, really sucks. I don't like people who suck.

I finally got around to hanging Balder back up above my bed. He's been chillen on my floor under the window ever since I rearranged my room a few weeks ago. He's lookin' gooooood. :)

Also, I've been tossing around some ideas for books with Corinne for a while now and they are starting to go into effect. One is a dictionary of wombinations (word combinations). Corinne has a sick obsession with combining words and the only logical solution would be to make a book of all the shit she comes up with. I may have mentioned my How-to Be A Total Fucking Creeper book idea before. It's basically the story of my life with a few instructions thrown in. I feel like it could really help some people out.

Here's some examples of wombinations:
  1. Chorgasm - chocolate orgasm; The Comte de Reynaud had such an intense chorgasm that all of Lasquenet could hear his moans erupting from the front of the chocolaterie.
  2. Flaid, Plannel - plaid flannel; Pat always look amazing in that purple flaid shirt, don't you think?
  3. Fouple - fat couple; Get behind me, Coco, there's a fouple coming at us like a freight train.
  4. Speemon - speed demon; Samantha is such a speemon when she drives. Good thing the pedestrians around here are observant.
  5. Fanksy - fake Banksy; Looks like Fanksy struck again over on 9th and 9th..

This fanksy, which we have so lovingly named Blanche, can be found all over downtown Salt Lake. She's a big fan of hanging out on dumpsters and newspaper boxes.

I STILL HAVEN'T STARTED MY MIDTERM PAPER. AGGGGHH!

Yesterday was... interesting? I took Corinne out on a date to Takashi where we had some superb sushi, good edamame and vegetable tempura that didn't even come close to Happy Sumo's in taste.

Strawberry Fields: Escolar, strawberries, spicy sauce and fresh chili peppers inside, toasted almonds and eel sauce outside.

Buddha: Tempura-fried portabellas, green beans, sweet potatoes and carrots, topped with sweet sauce and sesame seeds.

Then we came back to the room and watched Mega Piranha... It was such a great movie. The acting was top-notch, the plot was very well written, and the special effects made me want to cry out with joy. Uhhn, I would definitely recommend it to everyone. ;) In case you didn't catch on, I was being sarcastic. It was a terrible movie. I don't think it was even worth the $5 that Corinne paid for it. If you really want to see it, watch it when you're either very high or very drunk so that it will actually seem okay. Otherwise, skip it and go straight to Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus.

Then we headed over to the Union for a Halloween-themed Crimson Nights. Corinne went in her sailor outfit again and I was just a kid from Missouri in a dress, haha. But I worked it. It wasn't very fun. There was a big sweaty dance floor where Drunk Werner was getting his groove on, along with button making and henna tattoos. We probably stayed for an hour and a half, most of which was probably spent looking for Werner and other people we knew. Then we sat in Jobe's living room talking and being bored. Or was that just me? I was bored out of my mind and wanted to leave the whole time. The fact that I was in a really poor mood didn't help much either, hah. Corinne and I bailed right after 2 am and came back to my bed to watch Splice with Joe. So we didn't end up going to bed until after 5 am.. meaning I was way too tired and unmotivated to go to my 8:45 Fall Training for work this morning.. oops.

Things I need to accomplish today:
  • Go to the City Library and return all of my books and movies.
  • Volunteer with Corinne for her LEAP class.
  • Try not to freeze my ass off at the Utah vs. CSU game tonight.
  • Maybe start writing my paper so I'm not in Starbucks all day tomorrow doing it.

woo, 600 viewers!

We should start having a blog party every time I hit a hundred more viewers. Does that make sense? 700, 800, 900, etc. There will be cookies at the party for 1,000 viewers. I'll bake a cake, even. It'll be awesome.

Werner is sitting next to me. His feet smell terrible.

Werner: Wash your feet.

These pictures are from the first Saturday of Fall Break. The game plan had been to pre-game in Craig's room (1st picture), then go down to State St. where we would find hobos to buy us booze and go to 18+ clubs. We barely made it to State when I started hurling all over the car. Oh, it was lovely. Pulled over into some random parking lot so I could continue my puking spree and get some air. Obviously that didn't help because I fouled up the car again once we were back in it. We came back to 814 - somehow without getting caught by the part of RA's in the hallway that we passed - where I continued to die over Werner's toilet (2nd picture).

Joe, Corinne, Werner and I are watching Secret Window from my bed right now. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to write my midterm paper on... I should really pull my shit together since it's due Monday night and I'm gonna be way too busy that day to pull anything together right before class. So yeah, we're watching Secret Window so I can get some musical motivation.

The gang also went to Happy Sumo on Sunday for some dank ass sushi. It was SOO GOOD, oh mah gawd. Craig doesn't agree though.. He got sicky sicky, poor Alaskan. Here's a drawing of us I did on our placemat:

Emily, Craig, Corinne, Sam, Joe, Daniel, Werner

I should become an artist. Those stick figures are grade A.. A as in awesome!

One thing that I don't need but really, REALLY want is an Apple TV. Just look at it!

The problem is, I don't just have $99 lying around that I can spend on one. Or money to get Netflix to go along with it. I have about $250 in my bank account right now, $75 of which is going to Corinne for all the times she's had to lend me money. In the next couple of weeks before my next paycheck, I'll probably spend $40 on gas, $20 will go to Best Buy for my iPhone protection plan or whatevs, and $20 will go on my laundry card. That doesn't leave me any room to buy an Apple TV and live comfortably and without bumming money off of my parents. They're probably getting so sick of putting money in my account every couple of days. And putting money on my Starbucks card. I'm really determined to hit 30 stars and get a gold card. I'm at 16 stars now, I think, so I only have to get 14 more drinks before I get that gold card.

Also, Werner suggested that I should make business cards for my blog. I don't think they're needed, but how effin' cool would that be? I'm going to get on that as soon as I have some free time. I'm sitting in Starbucks again now trying to come up with some ideas for my film midterm paper. I think I'm going to do "background music in cinema" but I'm having a hard time brainstorming any ideas. So far I've got the Lion King and the Batman movies. Hahaha.

fall break

Werner seems to think that I need to make an update about my goings-on as of late instead of studying for my film midterm that's coming up on Monday. Priorities: he knows them.

This has probably been the most uneventful Fall Break in the history of Fall Breaks. I've sat in my room watching movies and my newly acquired cable television, reading books by Vladimir Nabokov, and putting off learning how to actually be successful in my math class. Corinne's been MIC (Missing in Colorado) since the weekend, Werner left me for three days, and now Craig is galavanting in Canada looking for boats.. Being alone does not suit me.

I finally got rid of Werner long enough to come down to Starbucks, order a venti Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte Frappuccino, and fill out my example midterm quiz. It's been a really difficult process. Thank God I have Google. I don't really want to spend the rest of my break re-reading the first six chapters of my film book... but it may be needed. :( I can't remember anything. I should stop sitting by Pat so I can actually pay attention to my professor when he's talking. sigh.

Something really bothered me yesterday when I was at work. All of the kids were together in the gym having free time when Norbu socked Casey in the eye over a bouncy ball that he wanted. I was walking Casey to the office to get an ice pack when his mom walked in to the building. She comes over and asks why he's crying and I explained, "He got hit in the face by another student, we're on our way to get an ice pack." She then gets down in his face and starts yelling, "Stop crying! You have no reason to be crying! Stop it! Breathe!" Casey just starts crying harder and can barely breathe correctly at this point and the whole time I'm just standing there like "O_O what the fuck." Joey Richter will demonstrate:

So then I walk them to the office to talk to my coordinator and Casey starts to finally cool down, but as we're walking back he says "You don't even care about me :(" in this super sad voice. And you know how his mom replies? "You're right, I don't care about you. Suck it up and keep walking." I feel terrible for this kid. It was his last day at Riley too, so I'll never get to see him again and see if he's alright. I feel like people should really take a test before they decide to become parents. If they fail, well, fuck them, they can go adopt a goldfish.

Speaking of goldfish.. As soon as I have $175, I want to get a hedgehog as a pet since I'm not allowed to have a cat or dog in the dorms. Technically, hedgehogs probably aren't allowed either, but they're basically a goldfish, right? They live in the same type of environment... a fish tank... I think it'll be fine. :)

Blogging for the sake of blogging, must be discouraged, for our tried and tested traditions...

Am I really such a nerd that the first idea to blog about tonight involved a quote by Dolores Umbridge? Yes, yes I am. *sigh*

Anyway, what's up guys! Hold on, let's me rephrase:

What's up, my five hundred plus viewers! ;)

I'm seriously stressing right now. I have yet another French test tomorrow morning. So I have to study for that and do the 8 homework assignments I just found out about. And I need to study my math book to find out what the hell we're working on in class. I've now skipped three classes in a row and it's killing me. I'm only going tomorrow because I finally have the ten dollars that I owe Andrew for a brownie that I bought from him weeks ago. I'm such an awful student.

I went to Gateway with Corinne today and bought three sweaters from Forever 21 and two pairs of shoes from UO.

I could only find one sweater on the website and I'm not certain that it's even the one I bought. But it looks similar, if not exactly the same. Haha.

The shoes are this kind of style, but one pair is like gray vintage wallpapery patterned and the other is black with colorful floral shit. I was all for buying two plain colored pairs but Corinne refused to let me. I also wanted to buy this hat, but it was $34, so of course she wouldn't let me buy it either.

We had lunch at Costa Vida and out of the three Mexican places I've been to in SLC, it was the worst. The enchiladas were surprisingly good - I got pork rather than my usual chicken - but the black beans and rice were off par. Rubio's definitely has the best black beans and rice, with Café Silvestre coming up in second. Then I worked from 2-6, where I got my ass kicked at capture the flag by a team consisting of two second graders. It was pretty sad. Not much else has happened tonight.. Dinner with Werner, Craig, Corinne, Emily, Rosie, Laura, Joss, Craig's friend whose name I can never remember, and Pat. I totes creeped on Pat all through dinner, too. Definitely the highlight of my night. Craig, Werner and I actually created this really fabulous display of switching our chairs so I could touch Pat's hair but it failed hard because Pat was getting up to leave as we were executing it. Damn him. BUT. I did touch it. And yes, it is very soft. Me gusta.

hi werner!

Welcome to my blog, Wernbot.
*raucous laughter, loud applause, general excitement*

So we're in the process of making a habit out of coming to the 814 lounge and having study parties with Wernbot & Co. It's happened a whole whopping two times now. I've thoroughly enjoyed each one though. Especially the one we had tonight. Corinne and I spent the majority of the time Skyping each other from different sides of the table.. Nothing new or out of the ordinary there. Oh, it's also been decided that any time one of us wants to have a guy back to the dorm for some alone time, all we have to do is say that there should be a study party that night in 814. I'm pumped to test this new saying out. ;) ij. I'm not being a filthy person anymore.

Did you see that? IJ is the new JK. "I Jest." "Just Kidding." You choose which one sounds cooler. IJ is definitely going to be the winner.

I'm trying to think of something really exciting that I did this week but I'm blanking.. Besides going to class, working, and studying it up at 814, I don't think anything has happened. I guess I'll just share some more quotes that feature the infamous Werner.

Quotes featuring Werner
"I'm really in tune with my feminine side." - Craig
"Is it your right or left side?" - Werner

"Did you date people in high school?" - Corinne
"Just men." - Werner

"We use telekinetic waves and this is my receiver." - Werner

"You should be jealous of what these eyes have seen." - Werner

utah vs sjsu

So last night was our homecoming game against San Jose State University and we DOMINATED. The final score was 56-3. :D GO UTES.

I don't really have much to say about the game. Sat with Corinne's family for the first half, then joined Rosie in the student section for the second half. The student section is so lively, I love it. Hopefully I'll get a ticket before the next game sells out so I can sit over there again. The next game against Colorado State looks to be my last one for this season cause the last game (against BYU) has been sold out since before school started. Maybe a miracle will happen that will allow me to get in, but we'll see. Next year I'll be joining the MUSS for sure.

I was looking at Forever 21 earlier this morning and came across a cardigan that I want.

Contrast Slub Cardigan $17.80

But look at that girl's face! It almost makes me not want to buy the sweater. That's a really awful thing to say, but damn. Look again:

I'm just disgusted. I really preferred when Forever 21 didn't include their models' faces in the clothing shots. >:(

Basic Knit Dress $14.90

Classic Sweater Dress $13.80

Ruffle Dotted Dress $24.90

After I get paid I want to buy some simple dresses like these three that I can wear whenever, not only to parties.

Friday
Interview. Success. Got a job. "Extended day group leader." $9.50/hr. 20 hours a week. Redfest. Mates of State, Ben Lee, Fun. Party at The Keep (Nick, Andrew, Anthony, Sarge, and Tim's house). My first ever pot brownie. Got really high. Drank a lot too. Went to Kappa Sig. Had another "friendly greeting" with one of the brothers.

Saturday
No idea how I spent the day. Went to a party at Kappa Sig that night though. Ate more of my brownie. Drank way too much. Very drunk and high. Another "friendly greeting" with the bro from Friday on some washing machines. Ended the night in a very classy style. Puked. Left the frat wearing some random guy's clothes. Tripped on the sidewalk. Basically died.

Sunday
No hangover. Puked too much the night before. Didn't want to chance it. Stayed in bed until 6 pm. Did four loads of laundry. Washed and changed my sheets. Cleaned my room. Got rid of a lot of food and trash. Studied hardcore for French and Math.

Monday
Quiz in Math. ACED it, surprisingly. Orientation for the new job. Film class. Watched On the Waterfront. Terrible movie. Hopefully next week we watch something that doesn't suck for once. Walked back to the dorms with Pat. :)

Tuesday and Wednesday
Can't remember anything exciting happening. Went to work. Easiest job ever. Basically all I do is help with snacks and homework, do an enriching activity with the kids, then supervise while they do math on the computers. I love it.

Thursday
I stayed up so late Wednesday night studying for the French quiz we were supposed to take Thursday morning. It turned out to be a take-home quiz. -_- Went to work right after class. Had dinner with Pat, Werner, Corinne, Emily, and Joe at 6:26 exactly.. haha. Finished what was left of my brownie. Went biking/running around Liberty Park with Corinne. She ran and I biked. It was cute. Harassed her into buying me a roast beef sandwich from Arby's. Seriously the most heavenly sandwich I've ever eaten. MMMM. Orgasms in my mouth and eyes. Came back home, very high. Sat on my bed and created haikus out of my thoughts.. Weird, I know.

Quotes from Thursday:

"It's not as classy as Utah.. I'm all about the classy." - Werner

"They were just trippin' on acid and moving their beds around." - Werner

"Yeah dude, my best friend got tased." - Werner

"We were floating down the Rio Grande in an inflatable swimming pool." - Pat

"I was so drunk and so dehydrated." - Pat

"I just want to lay across the back of the couch and touch you." - Me to Corinne

"You know, if I had to choose between getting a roast beef sandwich and getting a surgery..." - Me
"...You'd get a sandwich?" - Corinne

"No! Not a disc read error!" - Corinne
"A discreet error? How can an error be discreet?" - Me

"I apologize for my laugh right now.. I feel like I was barking at you. Was I barking at you!?" - Me
"Is that from TFLN or did you just get a text that said that?" - Corinne
"I'm asking you a serious question! Was I barking at you!?" - Me

Friday
Left math early.. All we were doing was reviewing for the midterm on Monday. It was seriously lame. Some people in my class may need to review what venn diagrams are but I do not. Ugh. Went with Corinne to pick up her mom and sister from the airport. Went to lunch with them at Einstein Bros Bagels and had my first ever bagel. Actually got 3 for the price of 1. Asked for a chocolate chip bagel with plain cream cheese.. Got a chocolate chip bagel and a plain bagel, no cream cheese. So they hooked me up with a second chocolate chip one covered in cream cheese. Yuck. Not a bagel or cream cheese fan apparently. Also went to Deseret Industries Thrift and Decades with their fam. Came back home, had dinner with Emily, then headed over to 813 with Werner and Scott to watch Forrest Gump and pregame for the Homecoming dance. Had a good amount of Bacardi. The guys left for the dance and Emily and I came back to our room, where I watched YouTube videos and laid on the floor. Had an intense craving for the Pie. After Corinne got back from Park City with her family, we headed down on the shuttle. I had a slice of pepperoni pizza and Emily bought a pan of Cinna-stix. Some guy came and sat with us because apparently he's in a metal band and the rest of the band he was eating with were shunning him because he was wearing a plaid shirt, not a metal shirt. He sat with us for a really long time. So long that eventually the rest of the band joined our table. Finally got them to leave so we could leave too. Walked to Trax and got stopped by another guy, this time drunk and just leaving the Homecoming dance. His name was Stanley and he was trying so hard to get Corinne to come home with him. It was hilarious.

Quotes from Friday:

"I wish my kids were superheroes." - Me

"Anti-social behavior there, Babe." - Corinne's mom about using the Jeep to drive over a curb in the Union parking lot instead of reversing

"Life's the most depressing thing ever, but I have satellite TV so I have HBO." - Stanley

"Mike's a jerk.. I heard his grandpa's a Nazi.. Blue hair, blonde eyes." - Stanley

"What's her name?" - Stanley's friend about Corinne
"Stanley's.. woman." - Stanley

"Isn't it all the same?" Bass player at the Pie about Dayquil and Nyquil
"No, this is orange." - Emily

"Have you been to the big FedEx in Kansas City?" - Bass player at the Pie

basically a week

I haven't posted about my daily goings-on since Wednesday. So now - what you've all been waiting for - a recap of Thursday-Wednesday. ;)

Thursday
Thursday started off as unexciting as every other day. French, then boredom. If I did anything worth mentioning between the hours of 12 and 9, I honestly couldn't recap. My mind is a black mass for those hours. After 9 was pretty bomb though. Went to a frat party at Kappa Sig. Drank a lot, hookah'd a lot, partied hard.

Friday
I didn't have a hangover! Woo! But I was referred to as an animal for partying on a school night. :) Andrew refused to sit by me in math class cause he and PK had "important" things to talk about all hour. Don't remember the rest of the day. Night hits. Emily and I went to Chapel Glen to pick up Craig and head down to the SigEp Highlighter Party. Ended up standing in the freezing cold for hours waiting for a ride down to the party cause Craig was on crutches and didn't walk. Took a shuttle down with Emily, Craig, Pat, and some other kid whose name doesn't stand out but skis in Aspen, CO. Skipped out on the highlighter party. Met up with Rosie and hit up Kappa Sig again instead. Played (and lost miserably at) beet pong. I made 2 cups, Rosie made 0. But I got free beer from the guys we played against so it was all good. :) Party got shut down early cause cops were patrolling hardcore so we headed back to Craig's room in the 803 and watched some movie. Also bummed some milk off of one of the girls in his hall so we could come back to my room and make macaroni and cheese and watch the Dark Knight.

Saturday
Rosie and I went to Jenny and Riley's apartment to pre-game for a few hours before the big football game at 2:00! It was pretty sweet. Their place is really nice and they're both really cool people. I basically drank from 12-6 Saturday and enjoyed every minute of it. Went to Noodles after the game (which we won! go Utes!) and had some delicious penne rosa. The girls finished the Dark Knight while I took a cat nap. Then Rosie found a really terrible party that we went to for maybe 2 minutes? It was a bunch of latinos and gangsters making out and some nasty girls that looked like Snooki. Yuck. Then we drove around for a few more hours looking for a different party. It was a total bust, no fun at all. I was thoroughly disappointed.

Sunday
Spent the majority of Sunday studying my ass off for French. Went to the City Library and made some flash cards.

Monday
Started my day off nicely by acing my first French quiz! Then Jenny texted me and said she wasn't going to come to math and I almost got killed by two skateboarders. Sat with Andrew and PK in math instead. We played Skyburger and Words with Friends all hour instead of learning how to divide watts by hours. Had lunch with Corinne. Walked to film class with Rosie. Found out that the guy Pat that I met Friday is also in film with me, so I sat with him for the first three hours. We watched Blade Runner. Seriously, one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The graphics were terrible and the music made my ears bleed a little. I left an hour early cause I definitely was not going to stay for an hour long discussion about that movie. Then the roomies and I drove to a place by Sugarhouse for some Mexican food. Mmm, oh my Rowling, it was so good. The rice wasn't as good as El Nopal's but the enchiladas were incredible. Then we got ice cream at McDonalds and came home. :)

Tuesday
Boring day in French; just reviewed all hour. Had lunch in the HC with Craig and Corinne. Corinne's taking a service initiative class so she has to volunteer for 24-25 hours in the first semester. So we went to a thrift store on the west side of Salt Lake after lunch.. We color coded clothes for 2 hours and cleaned up a corner of breakable items and VHS's. Had dinner in the HC with the roomies. Came back to the room, watched part of Amélie, then passed out before 10pm.

Wednesday
I had a French exam this morning. Guess what, guys? I completely OWNED it! I did so good, I can't wait to see my grade. :D I definitely overprepared. I was stressing so hard about it but it was super simple. Math was next. Sat by Jenny like always (when she comes to class) but my right side was lonely cause Andrew and PK refused to sit by us. Lunch with Corinne, Craig and Rosie. Jenny called me during lunch to tell me about the job that she's quitting and that she might be able to get me to take her place! So I remade my resumé, emailed the woman who runs the place, and got an email to call and set up an interview. Sadly, I didn't get this email until just a few minutes ago cause I've been around downtown with Corrine all day since. We went to Walmart and I finally used the gift card I got for graduation. Then we headed over to Deseret Industries Thrift and bought some t-shirts and a chair for Corinne's room. It's all floral and awesome. Rosie gets out of class in an hour and we're going to go down to the Pie to get some pizza for dinner. :)

Look what I made.. it's more appropriate and fitting to my life. ;)
