utah vs sjsu

So last night was our homecoming game against San Jose State University and we DOMINATED. The final score was 56-3. :D GO UTES.

I don't really have much to say about the game. Sat with Corinne's family for the first half, then joined Rosie in the student section for the second half. The student section is so lively, I love it. Hopefully I'll get a ticket before the next game sells out so I can sit over there again. The next game against Colorado State looks to be my last one for this season cause the last game (against BYU) has been sold out since before school started. Maybe a miracle will happen that will allow me to get in, but we'll see. Next year I'll be joining the MUSS for sure.

I was looking at Forever 21 earlier this morning and came across a cardigan that I want.

Contrast Slub Cardigan $17.80

But look at that girl's face! It almost makes me not want to buy the sweater. That's a really awful thing to say, but damn. Look again:

I'm just disgusted. I really preferred when Forever 21 didn't include their models' faces in the clothing shots. >:(

Basic Knit Dress $14.90

Classic Sweater Dress $13.80

Ruffle Dotted Dress $24.90

After I get paid I want to buy some simple dresses like these three that I can wear whenever, not only to parties.

i suck at updating

Friday
Interview. Success. Got a job. "Extended day group leader." $9.50/hr. 20 hours a week. Redfest. Mates of State, Ben Lee, Fun. Party at The Keep (Nick, Andrew, Anthony, Sarge, and Tim's house). My first ever pot brownie. Got really high. Drank a lot too. Went to Kappa Sig. Had another "friendly greeting" with one of the brothers.

Saturday
No idea how I spent the day. Went to a party at Kappa Sig that night though. Ate more of my brownie. Drank way too much. Very drunk and high. Another "friendly greeting" with the bro from Friday on some washing machines. Ended the night in a very classy style. Puked. Left the frat wearing some random guy's clothes. Tripped on the sidewalk. Basically died.

Sunday
No hangover. Puked too much the night before. Didn't want to chance it. Stayed in bed until 6 pm. Did four loads of laundry. Washed and changed my sheets. Cleaned my room. Got rid of a lot of food and trash. Studied hardcore for French and Math.

Monday
Quiz in Math. ACED it, surprisingly. Orientation for the new job. Film class. Watched On the Waterfront. Terrible movie. Hopefully next week we watch something that doesn't suck for once. Walked back to the dorms with Pat. :)

Tuesday and Wednesday
Can't remember anything exciting happening. Went to work. Easiest job ever. Basically all I do is help with snacks and homework, do an enriching activity with the kids, then supervise while they do math on the computers. I love it.

Thursday
I stayed up so late Wednesday night studying for the French quiz we were supposed to take Thursday morning. It turned out to be a take-home quiz. -_- Went to work right after class. Had dinner with Pat, Werner, Corinne, Emily, and Joe at 6:26 exactly.. haha. Finished what was left of my brownie. Went biking/running around Liberty Park with Corinne. She ran and I biked. It was cute. Harassed her into buying me a roast beef sandwich from Arby's. Seriously the most heavenly sandwich I've ever eaten. MMMM. Orgasms in my mouth and eyes. Came back home, very high. Sat on my bed and created haikus out of my thoughts.. Weird, I know.

Quotes from Thursday:

"It's not as classy as Utah.. I'm all about the classy." - Werner

"They were just trippin' on acid and moving their beds around." - Werner

"Yeah dude, my best friend got tased." - Werner

"We were floating down the Rio Grande in an inflatable swimming pool." - Pat

"I was so drunk and so dehydrated." - Pat

"I just want to lay across the back of the couch and touch you." - Me to Corinne

"You know, if I had to choose between getting a roast beef sandwich and getting a surgery..." - Me
"...You'd get a sandwich?" - Corinne

"No! Not a disc read error!" - Corinne
"A discreet error? How can an error be discreet?" - Me

"I apologize for my laugh right now.. I feel like I was barking at you. Was I barking at you!?" - Me
"Is that from TFLN or did you just get a text that said that?" - Corinne
"I'm asking you a serious question! Was I barking at you!?" - Me

Friday
Left math early.. All we were doing was reviewing for the midterm on Monday. It was seriously lame. Some people in my class may need to review what venn diagrams are but I do not. Ugh. Went with Corinne to pick up her mom and sister from the airport. Went to lunch with them at Einstein Bros Bagels and had my first ever bagel. Actually got 3 for the price of 1. Asked for a chocolate chip bagel with plain cream cheese.. Got a chocolate chip bagel and a plain bagel, no cream cheese. So they hooked me up with a second chocolate chip one covered in cream cheese. Yuck. Not a bagel or cream cheese fan apparently. Also went to Deseret Industries Thrift and Decades with their fam. Came back home, had dinner with Emily, then headed over to 813 with Werner and Scott to watch Forrest Gump and pregame for the Homecoming dance. Had a good amount of Bacardi. The guys left for the dance and Emily and I came back to our room, where I watched YouTube videos and laid on the floor. Had an intense craving for the Pie. After Corinne got back from Park City with her family, we headed down on the shuttle. I had a slice of pepperoni pizza and Emily bought a pan of Cinna-stix. Some guy came and sat with us because apparently he's in a metal band and the rest of the band he was eating with were shunning him because he was wearing a plaid shirt, not a metal shirt. He sat with us for a really long time. So long that eventually the rest of the band joined our table. Finally got them to leave so we could leave too. Walked to Trax and got stopped by another guy, this time drunk and just leaving the Homecoming dance. His name was Stanley and he was trying so hard to get Corinne to come home with him. It was hilarious.

Quotes from Friday:

"I wish my kids were superheroes." - Me

"Anti-social behavior there, Babe." - Corinne's mom about using the Jeep to drive over a curb in the Union parking lot instead of reversing

"Life's the most depressing thing ever, but I have satellite TV so I have HBO." - Stanley

"Mike's a jerk.. I heard his grandpa's a Nazi.. Blue hair, blonde eyes." - Stanley

"What's her name?" - Stanley's friend about Corinne
"Stanley's.. woman." - Stanley

"Isn't it all the same?" Bass player at the Pie about Dayquil and Nyquil
"No, this is orange." - Emily

"Have you been to the big FedEx in Kansas City?" - Bass player at the Pie

basically a week

I haven't posted about my daily goings-on since Wednesday. So now - what you've all been waiting for - a recap of Thursday-Wednesday. ;)

Thursday
Thursday started off as unexciting as every other day. French, then boredom. If I did anything worth mentioning between the hours of 12 and 9, I honestly couldn't recap. My mind is a black mass for those hours. After 9 was pretty bomb though. Went to a frat party at Kappa Sig. Drank a lot, hookah'd a lot, partied hard.

Friday
I didn't have a hangover! Woo! But I was referred to as an animal for partying on a school night. :) Andrew refused to sit by me in math class cause he and PK had "important" things to talk about all hour. Don't remember the rest of the day. Night hits. Emily and I went to Chapel Glen to pick up Craig and head down to the SigEp Highlighter Party. Ended up standing in the freezing cold for hours waiting for a ride down to the party cause Craig was on crutches and didn't walk. Took a shuttle down with Emily, Craig, Pat, and some other kid whose name doesn't stand out but skis in Aspen, CO. Skipped out on the highlighter party. Met up with Rosie and hit up Kappa Sig again instead. Played (and lost miserably at) beet pong. I made 2 cups, Rosie made 0. But I got free beer from the guys we played against so it was all good. :) Party got shut down early cause cops were patrolling hardcore so we headed back to Craig's room in the 803 and watched some movie. Also bummed some milk off of one of the girls in his hall so we could come back to my room and make macaroni and cheese and watch the Dark Knight.

Saturday
Rosie and I went to Jenny and Riley's apartment to pre-game for a few hours before the big football game at 2:00! It was pretty sweet. Their place is really nice and they're both really cool people. I basically drank from 12-6 Saturday and enjoyed every minute of it. Went to Noodles after the game (which we won! go Utes!) and had some delicious penne rosa. The girls finished the Dark Knight while I took a cat nap. Then Rosie found a really terrible party that we went to for maybe 2 minutes? It was a bunch of latinos and gangsters making out and some nasty girls that looked like Snooki. Yuck. Then we drove around for a few more hours looking for a different party. It was a total bust, no fun at all. I was thoroughly disappointed.

Sunday
Spent the majority of Sunday studying my ass off for French. Went to the City Library and made some flash cards.

Monday
Started my day off nicely by acing my first French quiz! Then Jenny texted me and said she wasn't going to come to math and I almost got killed by two skateboarders. Sat with Andrew and PK in math instead. We played Skyburger and Words with Friends all hour instead of learning how to divide watts by hours. Had lunch with Corinne. Walked to film class with Rosie. Found out that the guy Pat that I met Friday is also in film with me, so I sat with him for the first three hours. We watched Blade Runner. Seriously, one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The graphics were terrible and the music made my ears bleed a little. I left an hour early cause I definitely was not going to stay for an hour long discussion about that movie. Then the roomies and I drove to a place by Sugarhouse for some Mexican food. Mmm, oh my Rowling, it was so good. The rice wasn't as good as El Nopal's but the enchiladas were incredible. Then we got ice cream at McDonalds and came home. :)

Tuesday
Boring day in French; just reviewed all hour. Had lunch in the HC with Craig and Corinne. Corinne's taking a service initiative class so she has to volunteer for 24-25 hours in the first semester. So we went to a thrift store on the west side of Salt Lake after lunch.. We color coded clothes for 2 hours and cleaned up a corner of breakable items and VHS's. Had dinner in the HC with the roomies. Came back to the room, watched part of Amélie, then passed out before 10pm.

Wednesday
I had a French exam this morning. Guess what, guys? I completely OWNED it! I did so good, I can't wait to see my grade. :D I definitely overprepared. I was stressing so hard about it but it was super simple. Math was next. Sat by Jenny like always (when she comes to class) but my right side was lonely cause Andrew and PK refused to sit by us. Lunch with Corinne, Craig and Rosie. Jenny called me during lunch to tell me about the job that she's quitting and that she might be able to get me to take her place! So I remade my resumé, emailed the woman who runs the place, and got an email to call and set up an interview. Sadly, I didn't get this email until just a few minutes ago cause I've been around downtown with Corrine all day since. We went to Walmart and I finally used the gift card I got for graduation. Then we headed over to Deseret Industries Thrift and bought some t-shirts and a chair for Corinne's room. It's all floral and awesome. Rosie gets out of class in an hour and we're going to go down to the Pie to get some pizza for dinner. :)

Look what I made.. it's more appropriate and fitting to my life. ;)

It's been a while since I've done a Forever 21 appreciation post.

Retro Striped Sweater $22.90

Vintage Sweater Cardigan $26.90

Vintage Woven Dress $22.80

Raglan Knit Top $19.90

Something I find myself not appreciating is how they changed how the models are photographed. They used to be shown from their lips down and now it's the models' whole face and body. And some of the models are really unattractive. Also, instead of showing the piece of clothing by itself on a mannequin with a white background, they only have them on the models. I don't know why, but it bothers me.

quotes

College is providing me with some pretty funny quotes, something that excites me to no end. Back in Trenton, I was constantly tweeting and saving into my notepad funny things that were said around/to me. Here are some funny things I've collected since college started:

"I'm a looker and you're a toucher." - Corinne to me.

"No.. Sam.. Corner. Stop touching people." - Me, about myself

"Do you know the word for that?" - Ryan
"Duflex." - Nick
"...Diphthong." - Ryan

"Do you know where my tortillas are?" - Ryan
"Check under my roast beef." - Anthony

"If I could sing I would go to church." - Girl on shuttle
"...You'd only attend church if you could sing?" - Boy on shuttle
"Yes." - Girl on shuttle
"You're an awful person." - Boy on shuttle

"Where's the seatbelt thing?" - Me
"Oh, sorry the pancakes are blocking it." - Jeff

three days

I seem to be updating every three days. Yay for consistency!

Monday
Emily and I went hiking up the mountains with her childhood friend Jeff. One of the hardest things I've ever done. My weak little Missouri lungs couldn't keep up with their higher-altitude-adjusted Colorado lungs. We probably went for 5 miles or so, the majority of which was up the mountain and very strenuous. Then we went across the street to the Hogle Zoo. :) I love that place so much. Then Jeff dropped us off at the Gateway. Emily bought a necklace from Forever 21 to go with her olive dress and we got some Starbucks. Then we went and waited at Trax for a ride back up to the dorms... It took us ages to realize that Trax wasn't running on Labor Day. So we walked from the Gateway up to the Arby's on 4th S. Good thing it wasn't murderously hot outside. Then we had dinner and asked our lovely suitemate Corinne to come pick us up so wouldn't have to walk all the way back up to the dorms. It would have killed us.

Tuesday
Corinne and I started off the day with a blast... by skipping our 7:30am spinning class! :D But karma is a bitch. I went to pour some milk on my cereal only to find out that it had spoiled.. We'll see if I ever skip that class again when I want a good breakfast, haha. Went to French, had lunch with Corinne, then we went downtown. First we picked up our tickets for the football game on Saturday, then we took Trax down to the Gateway so she could look at the collegiate sweats at Victoria's Secret. We then walked a little further downtown and picked up Corinne's sexy new Globe!

It's such a cool bike. I want one but there is no way in hell that I could handle biking around the SLC. The people at the shop we went to were really cool too. I abandoned Corinne on the way back to the dorms so I could go talk to the financial aid department.. Tuition was due yesterday and USBank decided to be really cool and make the money go through today rather than yesterday. So I was freaking out that the U was going to drop all my classes and make me go home. NOT COOL. So I stood in the tuition line for an hour and a half.. only to have my question answered in less than a minute. Seriously, I hate our financial aid department. Same thing happens when I call them. I wait on hold for 20 minutes then have my problem solved in less time than it took for me to dial the number. Grr. Anyway, all is good hopefully and I should be able to keep going to my classes. :D

Wednesday
I went to French at 10:45, Math at 11:50, and lunch at 1. That's all I've accomplished today. :) I have SO much laundry to do so I plan on starting that as soon as I'm done here. I believe Rosie, Emily and I are going to dinner around 5 then heading over to Nick's house to chill after their classes are over at 8. Hopefully it'll be more exciting than the past couple of nights have been. Monday night the most exciting thing was when I stretched my ears. It took an hour and a half to get both rings through my tiny holes but they're gonna look sweeeet. Then last night the Internet was out on campus so I went to bed at 9:30. Yeah, so we'll see. :)

OH PS: I had SpoonMe for the first time yesterday. HOLY POO, IT WAS SO GOOD.

I think my smoothie had natural frozen yogurt, orange juice, banana, strawberries, and pineapple in it. It was the best smoothie I've had in a while.. And that's something considering I had Jamba Juice like a week or two ago and I thought their smoothies were the best things evar. As soon as I get mo' money (I'm ridiculously broke now according to my grandma), I'm gonna go to SpoonMe ALL DA TIME.

story of my life:

Hey guys! Ready for a quick summary of my weekend? Of course, you always are.

Friday
Rosie, Emily and I went to the park to meet some guys that Rosie met at Crimson Nights. It was a pretty uneventful time.. we played on the swingsets that sounded like a herd of elephants' mating calls, then sat around the swings while Rosie got her flirt on. Then we went to a party at this kid Nick's house that Rosie went to school with. I had such a good time. Started out with drinking games, then sitting on the couch getting to know each other while a huge group of people played more drinking games, then dancing to Party in the USA. I believe a game of Truth or Dare - which shortly turned into Never Have I Ever - initiated, then we all went to bed. Woke up five hours later, had breakfast at the HC, then slept in the dorm from 11:30-5:30. I slept next to Nick, whose snores could wake Rumbleroar's slumbering cubs, and barely slept from said snoring. Haha. So my large nap was needed.

Saturday
After my massive nap, our golden trio went to dinner. That was seriously the most exciting part of the night. We got all dressed up and left around 9 for the schoolgirl party that one of the Greek frats was holding, but it turned out to be a total bust. It was full of really slutty girls in too-short plaid skirts and wide-open white shirts. Not our scene. I mean, if we were all lesbians it would have been a good time. But we're not, so it wasn't, and we bailed less than a minute after entering the house. We walked around 500 S for a while looking for another party but didn't find anything so we came back to the dorms and went to bed. :(

Sunday
Today was just about as exciting as yesterday. Woke up early, ate some poptarts, then went downtown with Emily. Stopped by the City Library and got a couple of books, sat in Starbucks and read/studied in Emily's case, then went to Smith's to buy concealer, lotion, and fingernail polish remover. Came back to the dorms, had dinner at the HC, and now we're just chillen' and waiting for Rosie to come home so we can watch A Very Potter Musical. Emily's trying to finish her reading for a class she has Tuesday and Thursday. I cleaned the entire bathroom and killed a huge spider. Seriously, we are so much fun

I have absolutely no set plans for tomorrow. If the Hogle Zoo is open Emily and I might stop by it for a while. Same goes for the Gateway, cause we want to check out Forever 21 for some necklaces for Em. I have to resist and not buy anything. I think I have less than a hundred dollars left in my checking account. Do you know how terrible that is? I finally finished my resume today and applied for a job at Noodles and I have intentions of applying at more places, but we'll see.

Now for my closing statement...

I laugh every time I look at this. I'll be switching between tabs in Safari and it'll pop up and I'll start dying. Emily thought it was funny the first time I showed her, but now I think she's starting to get annoyed by how often I laugh at it. IT'S NOT LIKE I OPEN THE TAB ON PURPOSE, EMILY. Okay, maybe that's not true. But it's hilarious.

moar albums

I downloaded more albums.. no self-control.
  • Caribou - Swim
  • Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes - From Below
  • Freelance Whales - Weathervanes
  • Local Natives - Gorilla Manor
  • Tokyo Police Club - A Lesson In Crime
  • Tokyo Police Club - Champ
  • Yeasayer - Odd Blood
Speaking of no self-control, I went to Forever 21 again yesterday... Spent $50+ on two dresses, two solid color v-necks, and two brown belts. I'll upload some pictures of everything I've bought from Forever 21 in the last week.

$22.80 + 10% off, $19.80

$22.80, $22.80, $13.80, $4.50, $5.50

I have every intention of wearing these with the second black dress in the first picture.

No pictures of the v-necks cause they're just solid colored v's. One's white. One's gray. Anyway, last night Emily and I were modeling our new purchases to figure out what we should wear to party in this weekend. We're going to color match each other and it's gonna be totally awesome.

So party outfit #1 for me is the black dress on the right in the first picture with the yellow shoes in the third picture. Emily's going to wear the first black dress and black heels. And party outfit #2 is going to be the olive colored dress with the first brown belt, the tan cardigan on the left, and either my olive boots or my olive Toms. Emily also bought an olive dress from F21 and we look sooooo cute together. When we finally get dressed up and go somewhere I'll make someone take pictures of us. :) I'm so exciiiiited.

new albums

I just downloaded a bunch of new albums, according to what Last.fm recommended for me.
  • Bon Iver - Blood Bank
  • Dntel - Dumb Luck
  • Explosions in the Sky - Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place
  • Groove Armada - Black Light
  • The Lion King OST
  • Maria Taylor - LadyLuck
  • Miniature Tigers - Tell It To The Volcano
  • M. Ward - Hold Time
  • M. Ward - Post-War
  • Vampire Weekend - Contra

I've been an owner of Contra since it came out earlier this year but somehow I forgot to transfer it to my Mac before I left Missouri. The two M. Ward albums I adore and I'm a fan of Dntel's music, but the rest of the albums I'm not so sure about. Except for the Lion King. It obviously wasn't recommended by Last.fm; it was just needed. I saw it in one of the posts I was downloading from and couldn't not download it. Anyway, yeah, I've only listened to a few of the songs by Maria Taylor but they don't seem very good. Hopefully they'll grow on me. I hate downloading music that I end up not liking. For example, I downloaded two albums by Coconut Records a while back and I've barely listened to them. I couldn't get into them. Same with Attack Attack. No surprise there though; they suck. I only downloaded their album because Rose mentioned wanting it for Warped. Bleh. Mistake.

Dear readers, if you would be so kind... could you recommend some good music in the comments? It'd be greatly appreciated. :D

hump day

So apparently here in Salt Lake City there are signs for "road humps." Not road bumps. Humps. As we were discussing this last night at Hunan Garden (a chinese place we had to go to to satisfying my dire need for chinese), we also talked about how someone Rosie knows refers to Wednesday as Hump Day because it's the middle of the week and once you get past it, it's smooth sailing. Just like a road hump. I was completely blown away because I always thought that Hump Day was a day for humping people.. My time spent in Missouri has altered all sense of normalcy. Anyway, just thought I'd throw that little story out there for people who'd like to laugh at my stupidity. ;)

In other news, I finally got around to hanging Balder up and it looks awesome. Don't you agree!?

This week has been pretty uneventful so far. I had French, Math, and Film on Monday; Cycling and French on Tuesday; and French and Math today. I've really only gone to my classes and to get food.. I'm so boring. Oh, I also ran to Smith's today to buy some hangers and more pretzel m&m's.. Not very exciting, haha. The first football game is tomorrow but apparently Corinne gave away her extra tickets to her friends from Institute, so I'm not going anymore. Looks like I'll sit in my room and finish reading the Time Traveler's Wife. :( Hopefully Friday and Saturday will be more eventful. I think there's a school girl-themed Greek party on Saturday, which I'm excited for. I'll be so disappointed if it's half as bad as the Greek party we went to last weekend.

Vickie said this post was really short so I thought of a couple of others things I did today. I bought my plane tickets home for Thanksgiving! :) I'll be leaving SLC on November 24th after I get out of class and returning on the morning of the 27th. Not sure if I'm excited or not. I haven't felt homesick at all but my mom misses me so much, it kind of makes me sad. She's constantly sending me pictures of Nick and Smudge and telling me how they miss me, haha. It's cute but sad. I also got a package in the mail from my mommy containing Chocolat, Sweeney Todd, and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. AND gift cards for Subway and Starbucks.

I bought a caramel macchiato after I shopped at Smith's earlier and it was so satisfying. I never go to Subway but I'll try it out sometime when I'm downtown. I should be getting another package tomorrow or Friday with a couple more movies in it. I was getting bored of the small collection I brought and asked her to send me more movies that I like. :) I love my mommy.

TWO MORE THINGS:

1. I was walking back from Smith's and these three kids were walking near me - two guys and a girl. A weird noise was coming from the soccer field direction and the girl goes "What was that?" and one of the guys replies, "That was me. I farted." Everyone laughed, including me who was creeping very close behind the group. Then the guy is like, "Man, I can't believe that some people are actually offended by the word fart," and the girl says, "I definitely am." So after that he kept saying 'fart' and 'flatulence' and I was silently in hysterics as I walked around them. Then the girl goes, "God, would you STOP! Those words are so... crude!" I was for seriously dying.

2. I've reached 350 views. I have only one thing to say to all of you:
    Thank you. ;)
