design*sponge at home!

One of my favorite blogs for quite some time has been Design*Sponge, a design blog run by the talented Grace Bonney. She very recently released her first book Design*Sponge At Home (see video above) that I'm extremely excited about. She's doing a book tour and one of her stops is Salt Lake City on November 8th. Holy crap on a stick! You can bet your ass I will be there, even though I have two exams and work that day! This is one thing I refuse to miss out on. I missed seeing Ke$ha and Lady Gaga earlier this year because no one wanted to go with me? Big deal. If anything gets in my way on November 8th, I will break a bitch.

My absolute favorite blog, for those of you who haven't heard me go on and on about it, is Pacing the Panic Room. It was created by Ryan Marshall, a photographer and writer who started his blog when he and his wife Cole were trying to create their first child together. After they found out she was pregnant, he started taking weekly pictures of her pregnancy which he eventually turned into a video (shown below). You can click here to read his posts each week about the pregnancy.

I mention Ryan because he will also be coming to Salt Lake for the Altitude Design Summit in January.
As much as I would love to go, I feel like it would be pointless. My blog is nothing special. I don't say anything that people outside of my friend circle want to hear. I don't know how to take nice pictures, I'm a horrible writer, etc, etc. The list could go on for days. If I attended Alt Summit, I would feel so out of place with all of these wonderful bloggers. So instead, while the conference is going on, I'm going to be watching Ryan's twitter and hope to God that I run into him somewhere in downtown Salt Lake where the conference is being held.

Man, that sounds creepy.

L'amour est un feu qui dévore mais l'envie de chier est plus forte encore.

I am now the proud owner of a whole lotta Tupperware. Not only fancy cups that have easy to drink out of lids (below) but old fashioned Tupperware containers that I grew up with. My mom sent me multiple boxes full of the stuff and I am so grateful.
My grandma also snuck in these old-fashioned ice cream dishes... There are six of each so if anyone wants to come over and have an ice cream party, hit me up. We can break in the living room! No one has used it since we moved in. Let's do this!
Ever since classes started, Katie and I have been creeping all over our French professor's Facebook profile. Each time we get into groups for writing assignments we always try to include his most recent status updates in our answers. A few days ago, he sent out an email on WebCT asking how the class would feel about him making a group on Facebook to communicate in. Then he sent another saying we'd have to friend him to be put into the group and we would discuss it in class the next day. SO. POINT OF THAT STORY: I am now friends with my French professeur on Facebook and it is the single greatest thing I have ever done. Seriously. This guy is hilarious.

I had such a hard time looking at him with a straight face today after looking through all of his pictures. I also did not feel like doing any of the work he was assigning, so when he'd make me answer a question I sounded like a total asshole. Par exemple, one of the questions was "When was a time that you made a blunder?" and I replied, "I've never made any mistakes. I'm perfect." Also, "What suggestion would you make to someone who isn't fashionable?" My answer? "Buy new clothes, asshole." Of course I didn't say "asshole," but only because I couldn't remember the French word for it. ;) (it's trou du cul

In related news... Katie and I are definitely going to study abroad this summer. There's a program that goes to Tours, France, and covers 6-8 language credits. It's only a few thousand dollhairs and I should have resident status by the end of May. So I'm pretty pumped about that. I'm going to get an early start on scholarship and grant applications so that if we go, I'll have everything covered and I can spend my own money on things I desire (food). I believe it is from May 26th to June 22nd. Woop.

As you may recall, for a while I went through a phase where I was absolutely in love with A Very Potter Musical. The people who created it, Starkidpotter, recently came out with a new musical called Starship. It is really funny and I recommend watching it. I've been taking breaks from watching the Secret Life of the American Teenager on Netflix to watch it and it's just fantastic. Nowhere near as great as AVPM/AVPS, but still entertaining.

Chelsi threw a Quentin Tarantino party for her birthday on Saturday. It was awesome! Chelsi was Bridget von Hammersmark from Inglorious Basterds, Michael was Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction after he shoots Marvin in the face, and I (along with two other girls) came dressed up as Mrs. Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction.
Welp. That was my week. Redfest (Cobra Starship, Sabi, We Are Scientists) is Friday and the BYU vs. Utah game is Saturday but I think I'm going to lay low this weekend. I really need to study for the four exams I have next week. :(

Have any of you Blogger users switched to Blogger in Draft yet? I've had it for a few weeks and it's fantastic! I love it!

Listen to all of these songs multiple times. You'll feel better. Even if you've had a wonderfully wonderful day and everything in your life is perfectly perfect, give these a listen. I promise you won't regret it.

I finally got around to making an "About Me" page since this fancy Blogger layout allows "pages." I've linked it on the sidebar but you can also find it by clicking here or by hovering in the left side of the white bar above the header.

There are a couple of things that I really want to vent about and get off of my chest. The problem is, if I blog and someone gets butthurt, I'll hear about it from other people and get called a dick. How fucked up is that? This is my blog, goddamnit. I should be able to blog about whatever I want without having someone criticize me for it later.

second week of school

My second week of school was pretty uneventful. The only class I went to all week was French. I had group leader training every day from 1-4:30 and I wanted to look presentable, so I chose showering over going to my second classes.
Classes at the U were cancelled after 3pm on Thursday because of the football game. It went well.
Friday morning I had another meeting for work and my boss brought in her kitten. I spent the majority of the meeting playing with him. I don't remember what happened on Saturday. Mitch and I went to the Star of India on Sunday for dinner and then partied in Paul's room.
Today we went to a barbecue at a friend of Mitch's in South Jordan and then had Olive Garden for dinner and TCBY for dessert with Paul, Stuart, Becca and Zack.
Yeah... so... that was my week... I chose spending every moment of my weekend with my boyfriend rather than doing homework... so now I'm cramming and trying to get everything done so I can go to bed at a reasonable hour. kbye
