party central

oh hey guys, did you miss me?

I haven't really been in the blogging mood. Or in any kind of mood that involves a computer. I've been bored with the internet lately. I deactivated my facebook, took a break from tumblr, and tried not to sit on my computer or phone when I was bored. I've been spending a lot of time watching Netflix documentaries and playing old school video games with my roommate Molly. We've also been getting into Mad Men. So when we're feeling especially homework'd or partied out, we'll plop down in front of the TV and watch Mad Men for 6 hours. hah. Not much better than sitting on the internet but whatever. We're bonding.

I really like living in Diagon Alley. I have four roommates: Alee and Molly upstairs and Jacey and Krysta downstairs with me. Jacey and Krysta are literally never home and the basement is like a dungeon, so I spend most of my time upstairs with Molly. Here, peep the basement:
and then compare it to the main floor:

Molly and I have thrown two parties since I've moved in. The first was really small and chill. We sat around drinking tall boys and playing card games and Twister. This was all we had to clean up when people left:

The second party was the absolute opposite. There were over 100 people here and we probably only knew about 15% of them. Molly and I started drinking at 6pm so by the time people finally started showing up at 10, we were already gone. I have no idea when our house filled to the brim. One second I was letting Craig and Diego and all of their friends in and the next, it was like walking through the front rows of a Twilight concert. It was ridiculous. Early on I took this picture, so imagine this times 12:
I was reallly drunk and a little high so the amount of people in the house tripped me out. I started getting paranoid that we were going to get busted since we live right on 1300 E.... which turned me into an agro bitch. I tried to make people quiet down at first but that was an epic fail. We unplugged the music, turned the lights off, and even had a megaphone but nothing worked. People started chanting "MUSIC! MUSIC! MUSIC!" and kept trying to plug their own music in... Haha. That's when shit got crazy. I started full on screaming at people to shut the fuck up and get the fuck out. We got a group of people together to guard both doors and kick people out who didn't know the owners of the house. I got so violent. I've never hit a person in my life but apparently I was elbowing and shoving people who wouldn't get out of my way and at one point, I punched a girl in the face because she argued with me about coming in. Eventually I gave up and accepted that our party was a success and that I needed to chill the fuck out.

The next morning was probably the worst hangover I've ever had. Molly dragged me to the Village Inn, which was not a good idea at all. I think I spent more time throwing up in the bathroom than with Molly at the table. Then I came home, continued to puke, and wished that I would die already. But Molly wouldn't let me. I had already picked up all of the beer cans and other various shit that people left behind, but we had even more work to do. We had to collect the couch cushions from the front yard, collect our mailbox from the neighbor's yard, and sweep up a beer bottle that someone had so graciously smashed on our front porch. THEN we had to sweep and mop the entire upstairs because the floor was covered in beer.
The best part of clean-up was discovering beers on ledges.
The worst was discovering that the giraffe had been brutally murdered.

Haha. We're throwing another rager in a month or so for my birthday. We've already agreed that we're all gonna be calm (especially me) and let what happens happen. I'm stoked.

the new year

So this is the new year. 2012. Possibly the last year any of us will experience.

It's been a pretty busy year for me so far. On New Year's Eve I moved out of the dorms and into an awesome house near the bottom of campus. Then I threw a huge party. It was doooope.
My resolution this year is not to drink any alcohol. Ideally, I think it would be nice to wait until I turn 21 to drink. But we'll see. My friends are borderline alcoholics so it could prove to be difficult. I also want to cut out soda, as I do every year, as soon as I finish all the soda that's left from the party. I have 4-5 more cans of diet grapefruit soda I need to push through. :( They're so disgusting, but no one else in my house wants them and I don't want to pour them out since I paid for them and I'm extremely broke at the moment.

I started school this week. I changed my schedule (again) so I have 3 classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and an online class. I'm down from 19 credits to 12 but I have a feeling the classes I'm taking are going to stress me out hard.

+ 9:10-10:30 Intro to Ethical Dilemmas
+ 10:45-12:05 Human Origins: Evolution and Diversity
    + 12:25-1:45 Family Studies
+ online Evolution of Human Nature (again)

Paul and I are taking Evolution and Intro to Ethical Bullshit together. He loves our ethics class but I think it's a load of crap. There's this girl named Tschaun who has a question or a comment for every single thing our professor goes over. On the first day of class we were learning about how in an argument there should be premises and a conclusion. If the conclusion makes sense, you have to check that the premises are absolutely true. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's an example:

    + All humans are mortals.
    + Socrates was a human.
+ Therefore, Socrates was a mortal.

It's so easy. I learned this kind of stuff when I was a freshman in high school. Yet this girl could not find a way to agree with our professor. The example he was going over in class had premises that could be challenged. But whenever someone made an argument against a premise, she had to "clarify" whatever the person just said. It's hard to explain. You'd have to be there. But BASICALLY, she's a pain in my ass and I hate the class.

I really really like my Human Origins class. The professor goes over really interesting material and doesn't drone on like some of my other professors. I'm interested in everything he has to say. I'm not sure how I feel about my Family Studies class. I didn't want to take it because I don't really care to learn about families, but if I want to major in Human Development (I'm still unsure), it's a required class. I'm retaking Evolution because I'm an idiot and never went to class last semester so I got a C. Plus Paul wanted to take it and I can't say no to him.

emotions

I've been especially emotional lately...

I checked my mail as I was on my way to Forever 21 last week and saw I had a package from my grandma. I couldn't wait to open it so, sitting in my car, I tore into the package. She'd sent me all of my favorite easy-to-make foods, my favorite holiday candies, and the stocking that Santa had left for me every year for as long as I can remember. As I lifted that stocking out of the box, I lost it. I started bawling. I sat in my car crying to myself for probably a good 10-15 minutes. I was filled with so much love for my grandma. But I also felt terribly guilty. This is the first Christmas I've ever spent away from my family and as hard as it was for me, I can't even imagine how my parents felt. I stayed in Salt Lake for winter break to save my parents some money and the trouble of driving to Kansas City and back multiple times, but I also stayed for myself. I didn't want to be bored and trapped in Trenton. My selfishness came back to bite me though, since I've been bored and trapped in my room for the majority of break.

...but I've managed to be pretty emotionless at the same time.

My Ogden friends (excluding Chelsi and Michael) have been really unfriendly lately. One friend thinks I'm out to get all of her ex-boyfriends, so she and multiple other friends have turned against me. That's cool. Then all of the other people we normally hang out with here seem to have forgotten that I exist. Also cool. At first all of this was upsetting. But I've gotten to a point where I couldn't give two shits about their drama. You guys want to be angry at me for nothing? Cool, go right ahead. You don't want to be friends over this shit you're stirring? Your loss. I'm an awesome friend to those who an effort in.

honesty is always the best policy... except for when it isn't.

I'm a firm believer in being honest with those you love. As much as I enjoy lying for the sake of being funny, I really would prefer not to lie to my friends. If you have a bat in the cave or something lodged in between your teeth, I'll let you know. If your ass looks fat in dem jeans, I'll let you know. I'll also clue you in if the party you're hosting absolutely sucks.

On Friday night, I drove up to Ogden for a party that Amy was throwing. Amy doesn't allow underage drinking in her house but I thought, "eh not a big deal, I'll just get wasted tomorrow night at Mark's party." So Saturday rolls around and everyone starts canceling... Gentry, Megan, Amy and Casey, Chelsi and Michael... But I just spent a shit load of money perfecting my Rugrats' Angelica costume so I'm not going to turn back now. It's nearly 10 when I pull up to Colby and Mark's, but when I walk in... Colby's alone and watching a documentary on RUSH. The party was supposed to have started at 8. So I'm like, "okay, this fucking sucks," and plant myself on the couch next to him. Eventually a nice little crowd of people showed up - Jared, Josh, Skipper, Kelby, Nick, Chelsi, Michael - and the party started. Things were good for a while but then I think people got bored of dancing to shitty 90's music, so what do the hosts do? Pull out the acoustic guitar. Colby, Mark and Skipper arranged themselves around the dining table and started singing.... which is when the rest of the party moved outside to smoke.

Now, don't get me wrong. I love a good acoustic sing-along now and then. But at a 90s pop culture themed dance party? I don't think its appropriate. It also doesn't help when the singers think it wise to harmonize but don't do it properly... Anyway. The people on the porch had become thoroughly bored, annoyed, and hungry so we did what any bored, annoyed, hungry mob would do: we left. Here's where that first paragraph about honesty starts to tie in.

Everyone decided it would be best to just bail without saying goodbye. The Harris brothers and Colby were so wrapped up in their music making that they wouldn't even notice. But when I walked back inside to grab my bag, Mark asked me if I was leaving. And I lied. "No, we're just going to grab some food." As I was walking back outside, I felt like absolute shit. I knew this was the wrong thing to do. These are our friends who graciously invited us over and let us have a drunk dance party in their living room, and we're leaving without saying goodbye like a big sack of dicks.

We ended up going over to Jared's apartment to eat and resume partying. I still felt really shitty and that feeling only increased when Mark started texting me. Things started off okay. He asked if we had good food timez and I replied that Michael made us special ramen at Jared's, so yes. Then he said "Sorry that our party sucked" and I couldn't think of a good way to respond without lying. Chelsi wanted me to not respond or say we were waiting on our check to leave a food place... but I couldn't do that since he knew we were at Jared's. So I decided to be honest.
Everything I replied from "Guess so!" down was written in a joking manner. Or at least that's how I imagined it when I was writing it. If Mark and I had been face-to-face and I'd said "Guess so!" it would have been with a smirk and a shrug. Then I didn't want to reply to his sad emoticon with another sad emoticon, so I thought it would be cute/funny to make a sad mustached man. Oh boy, was I wrong. He said, "So this is a joke to you then. Cool." and I replied something along the lines of "Hey, I'm only trying to not make you want to kill yourself." ....also said in a joking manner in my head. Once again my humor was not noticed and he got offended and said, "Wow alright, and I thought we were becoming friends." I was tired and done talking to him, so like your average pussy I apologized and bailed...

Looks like I won't be responding to drunk texts while I'm sober anymore.

pre-missouri

I promised Kira I would blog during my layover in Minneapolis on Monday… But my flight out of SLC was an hour late and I had to sprint around MSP to catch my next plane. So no layover blogging timez. I also pulled an all-nighter so I was unconscious during both of my flights.. so no mid-flight blogging either.
Two Thursdays ago, Amanda and I went to sushi and then to the Breaking Dawn pt 1 premiere. It was really fucking terrible.... I was in panic mode the entire time Edward and Bella were having sex and then Bella was thinking about them having sex the day after. I had my knees to my chest, eyes wide with horror... I was legit freaking out. I have never been so disturbed by a sex scene.

During the opening credits there was a preview for the new Snow White and the Huntsman. It actually looks like it'll be a good movie. That is, until you get 57 seconds into the preview....

Kristen Stewart.....Kristen Stewart!? SERIOUSLY? They pick her as the fairest of them all!? Why god, why!? Ugggggghhhh. Why does she ruin everything I love!?

The next day I ended up taking Le Bus to Wendover, NV, for Michael's birthday party. On Saturday I went to Chili's and a hockey game with Kira, Beckie and Marques. There was a small party at Mark and Colby's on Sunday where we watched the Labyrinth and on Monday I flew back to Missouri.
Up next... My wonderfully exciting times in Missoura!

stupid, so stupid.

Sometimes I drink... and sometimes I get drunk. and SOMETIMES I get so drunk that I drop my iPhone into a toilet. Yeah. That totally happened this weekend. I went to the bathroom and lifted up the seat and somehow threw my phone into the toilet. So now I'm stuck with this shitty HTC Status loaner phone for the next week:
I also say some really weird things when I'm drunk, such as:
"When I laugh, a cloud of penises comes out of my mouth."

Halloween weekend...

So last Friday night, Chelsi threw an impromptu Halloween party. I dressed up as Kanye, the cat version.
We had a huge Halloween party at work on Monday. Here's a picture of me as a not-so-cute cat with the most adorable girls in the world, Fatima and Tamara.
Aaaaaand here's a picture of all of the projects my kids and I did last week. A toilet paper roll mummy, a spider ring made from pipe cleaners and a pom-pom, and a paper plate black cat.
Speaking of crafts, I found this dry-erase calendar on Pinterest. I didn't feel like buying a picture frame, so here's my version of the craft for the months of November and December. I actually like it a lot.
I also found this recipe for homemade mozzarella sticks using string cheese and panko crumbs. Absolutely delicious!
Corinne and I have been trying to find new restaurants to go to lately. I recently discovered Diva's Cupcakes over on 1560 E 3300 S. They had really delicious sandwiches and coffee at a reasonable price and a greenhouse area that you could sit in while you ate. It'd be a really nice place to study too if it wasn't so far out of the way. I didn't try any of their cupcakes but the gluten-free chocolate lemon one Corinne bought was gone before we got to EmilieJayne, so I'm guessing it was good. ;)
On a related note, the red cups are back at Starbucks. It's officially winter. I'm so excited!
