Earlier in the week I went on a date to the Los Campesinos! show at Club Sound. They're not anything that I would normally listen to, but it was a pretty good show. Here's a few songs of theirs.

In unrelated news, James dragged me to see Anonymous at the dollar theatre last week. I've never read anything by Shakespeare and I wasn't aware that there were people who think his works were written by a nobleman, but I really enjoyed the movie. I love all movies and books set in the Elizabethan era. If you haven't seen it yet, go. Do it now.

the new year

So this is the new year. 2012. Possibly the last year any of us will experience.

It's been a pretty busy year for me so far. On New Year's Eve I moved out of the dorms and into an awesome house near the bottom of campus. Then I threw a huge party. It was doooope.
My resolution this year is not to drink any alcohol. Ideally, I think it would be nice to wait until I turn 21 to drink. But we'll see. My friends are borderline alcoholics so it could prove to be difficult. I also want to cut out soda, as I do every year, as soon as I finish all the soda that's left from the party. I have 4-5 more cans of diet grapefruit soda I need to push through. :( They're so disgusting, but no one else in my house wants them and I don't want to pour them out since I paid for them and I'm extremely broke at the moment.

I started school this week. I changed my schedule (again) so I have 3 classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and an online class. I'm down from 19 credits to 12 but I have a feeling the classes I'm taking are going to stress me out hard.

+ 9:10-10:30 Intro to Ethical Dilemmas
+ 10:45-12:05 Human Origins: Evolution and Diversity
    + 12:25-1:45 Family Studies
+ online Evolution of Human Nature (again)

Paul and I are taking Evolution and Intro to Ethical Bullshit together. He loves our ethics class but I think it's a load of crap. There's this girl named Tschaun who has a question or a comment for every single thing our professor goes over. On the first day of class we were learning about how in an argument there should be premises and a conclusion. If the conclusion makes sense, you have to check that the premises are absolutely true. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's an example:

    + All humans are mortals.
    + Socrates was a human.
+ Therefore, Socrates was a mortal.

It's so easy. I learned this kind of stuff when I was a freshman in high school. Yet this girl could not find a way to agree with our professor. The example he was going over in class had premises that could be challenged. But whenever someone made an argument against a premise, she had to "clarify" whatever the person just said. It's hard to explain. You'd have to be there. But BASICALLY, she's a pain in my ass and I hate the class.

I really really like my Human Origins class. The professor goes over really interesting material and doesn't drone on like some of my other professors. I'm interested in everything he has to say. I'm not sure how I feel about my Family Studies class. I didn't want to take it because I don't really care to learn about families, but if I want to major in Human Development (I'm still unsure), it's a required class. I'm retaking Evolution because I'm an idiot and never went to class last semester so I got a C. Plus Paul wanted to take it and I can't say no to him.

pre-missouri

I promised Kira I would blog during my layover in Minneapolis on Monday… But my flight out of SLC was an hour late and I had to sprint around MSP to catch my next plane. So no layover blogging timez. I also pulled an all-nighter so I was unconscious during both of my flights.. so no mid-flight blogging either.
Two Thursdays ago, Amanda and I went to sushi and then to the Breaking Dawn pt 1 premiere. It was really fucking terrible.... I was in panic mode the entire time Edward and Bella were having sex and then Bella was thinking about them having sex the day after. I had my knees to my chest, eyes wide with horror... I was legit freaking out. I have never been so disturbed by a sex scene.

During the opening credits there was a preview for the new Snow White and the Huntsman. It actually looks like it'll be a good movie. That is, until you get 57 seconds into the preview....

Kristen Stewart.....Kristen Stewart!? SERIOUSLY? They pick her as the fairest of them all!? Why god, why!? Ugggggghhhh. Why does she ruin everything I love!?

The next day I ended up taking Le Bus to Wendover, NV, for Michael's birthday party. On Saturday I went to Chili's and a hockey game with Kira, Beckie and Marques. There was a small party at Mark and Colby's on Sunday where we watched the Labyrinth and on Monday I flew back to Missouri.
Up next... My wonderfully exciting times in Missoura!

falling in love at a coffee shop

I was sitting in Starbucks studying and this came on. I'd forgotten how much I love this song.

Today is the last day of fall break. I basically did nothing but work and watch netflix. It was so boring and uneventful. If I didn't input each thing I did every day into the Momento app, I wouldn't be able to recall anything I did.

October 7-9

On the 7th, Riley went on a field trip to a pumpkin patch. The kids got to pick their own pumpkin, place in a hay maze and then learn about the hundreds of different kinds of pumpkins, squash and gourds. The next day was the Utah vs. ASU game where we lost, 14-35. It was cold, I was tired and we were losing so it was boring. I spent that night in Ogden with Chelsi and Michael and spent all of Sunday intruding on their family. By that I mean I accompanied their entire family (Wendy, Shayne, Cass, Noah, Chelsi, Michael and Mitch) to the movie theatre and then to dinner. I tried to be as un-awkward as possible since it was the first time Mitch and I were seeing each other but he kept making it weird and so were his parents. It was very obvious that they thought it was fucking odd that I was there as just a friend AND that Mitch was going to give me a ride back to Salt Lake. Whatever. We talked things out on the ride home and I feel like we can finally move on and be friends. When I got home Paul and I went to the dollar theatre to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides..... It was so terrible. I am a huge fan of the Pirates series but this one was just... awful. The acting seemed unnatural and forced and I guess I just wasn't a fan of the plot. The whole 2 hours we were sitting there I was bored and unhappy. I've never been so disappointed by a Johnny Depp movie in my life.

October 14-16
On Thursday I was getting pretty pissy about the fact that I hadn't done shit during break. So I hit up Chelsi. On Friday we threw a party of epic proportions where everyone got really wasted and had a blast.

Then last night Paul, Bottom Joe, Stuart, Corinne and I went to the Haunted Forest in American Fork. It was $20 for an hour and a half of wanting to pee my pants. Not because it was scary. I just really needed to pee. But it was really fun. It wasn't scary so much as shocking at how close the actors got to you. I was the leader of our pack so creepers kept jumping out and getting within an inch of my face. There was also a guy with a blow torch that nearly took out my shoe. Not cool. What WAS cool was the guy dressed up as Captain Jack Sparrow:
He was stumbling around in one of the rooms of the mansion you go through before the forest. We caught him afterward and I managed to snap a picture of him with Paul and Bottom before my phone died.

Speaking of phones, I got the iOS 5 update and I loooove it. I can't decide if the notification center or the ability to make custom text tones is my favorite. I love everything. I especially love this tumblr called Shit That Siri Says. It's a collection of screenshots of things that Siri has responded on the new iPhone 4S. It makes me so jealous of 4S owners...

Anyway. Back to school tomorrow. It'll be my first time to French class in two weeks. I'm excited to see how much Luc picks on me. À bientôt!

Have any of you Blogger users switched to Blogger in Draft yet? I've had it for a few weeks and it's fantastic! I love it!

Listen to all of these songs multiple times. You'll feel better. Even if you've had a wonderfully wonderful day and everything in your life is perfectly perfect, give these a listen. I promise you won't regret it.

Pogo - Alohomora

Foster the People - Waste

I finally got around to making an "About Me" page since this fancy Blogger layout allows "pages." I've linked it on the sidebar but you can also find it by clicking here or by hovering in the left side of the white bar above the header.

pizza and vodka and pizza and vodka...

New wheatpasting on a Smith's dumpster.
A lovely set-up at Barnes and Noble.
Paul and I went to Chipotle where we became friends with this dog tied up next to us.
My first ever Chiptole burrito. I didn't even eat half of it, it was so filling.
Paul bought a 3DS so now all he does is play Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time.
I cleaned out Paul's car on the way to Sandy to watch X-Men: First Class. He had multiple hotdog boxes that only had tiny chunks of bun left that I mistook for breadsticks. lawl.
Mustaches we got from Best Buy. Paul refused to buy one for me but two came out.
We made fried chicken for dinner one night and it looked SO perfect.
Then Paul burnt 4 pieces and it turned out that all of the chicken we made was undercooked. So we went to IHOP for dinner. hah.
Yesterday we had Wingers for lunch...
They put popcorn on our table and it was mostly what we ate cause it took an hour to get our food out and it was cold and gross.
Chelsi and Merv.. so freaking cute.

Boring captions, oh well. Listing out what I've done since my arrival in SLC was even worse.

Last night, I hung out with Mitch, his sister Chelsi and her husband Michael. After Chelsi started getting drunk, she was saying the funniest things, such as:
"With hip cat's clothes on.. He was the dick's tits."
"That's why we have to keep him inside, literally a butterfly could beat him up."
"Guys, a fucking teepee. I don't think anyone gets it!"
"Please have available a smile upon arrival."
"Please have available one chief from any tribe of Idaho."
"Teepees unite. Teepees, not peepees."
"We just reserved a teepee for 4 nights and we can't afford a wedding gift."
We reserved a teepee in Idaho for the end of July... lolyaydrunkendecisions. Now, please enjoy this video of the honey badger:

bazaaring

Dictionary.com defines bazaar as
  1. a marketplace or shopping quarter, especially one in the Middle East
  2. a sale of miscellaneous contributed articles to benefit some charity, cause, organization, etc.
  3. a store in which many kinds of goods are offered for sale; department store
If a bazaar is a shop, wouldn't adding an -ing onto the end make it shopping? Aha, it would! So, if we had to define bazaaring, we could probably say
  1. the act of shopping
Awesome. This is great. We can finally define my url.
Bazaaring actually originated when I signed up for dailybooth with the name Bazaar. I wanted to use that on other websites but of course it had already been taken.. hence the randomly added on ending. I'm not about using numbers in my usernames like some people (coughcoughcorinnecough)...

Anyway.
I'm sitting in the library. Alone. Because Corinne won't skip class to join me. I should be studying for the Christianity exam we have tomorrow... Instead, I'm browsing Facebook and staring at every single person that walks in to the library. Do I feel like a creep? Of course I do, that feeling never leaves me.

Yesterday I took my oral exam in French.. totally aced it. That's 2/2 exams I've kicked ass at in French this week. I also got my composition from a few weeks ago back and got an A on that too! Why am I so aweeesommeee! All of the studying I've been putting in this week is starting to get to me though. Last night as I was studying for the History midterm I had this morning, I fell asleep while reading. So when I woke up at 7 this morning, I was freaking out that I wouldn't have enough time to learn everything the exam was over. Because before last night, I hadn't studied at all for the midterm. Yay procrastination! But when I got to class the test question was over the one I had studied this morning, so I lucked out. Now I just need to start learning about Christianity so I don't fail tomorrow's test...

I'll do it later.

Man, I love sitting in the library. Its so quiet (unlike our room), it smells nice (unlike our room), and there are so many cute boys here (unlike our room). On Fridays I have history from 8:35-9:25 and then an hour break before mythology at 10:45, so I could come in here for that time. It's too bad I haven't been to a single history class this semester. Maybe this Friday...

Little Dragon has been crossed out from the Upcoming heading on the right side. :( The show is strictly 21+. I was hoping that I could somehow bypass the system but I don't think it'll happen. Hopefully they'll come back to the SLC another time and play at an all ages venue... or wait to come back until I'm 21. I'm hoping for the former. Skrillex was added to the list and I'm pretty stoked on that. From First to Last used to be one of my favorite bands and when Sonny left to become Skrillex, I basically shit from excitement. Hahah.

I'm not sure that anyone even reads my blog anymore. But if someone out there is reading this, definitely check out some of these songs I've been digging recently.

Band of Horses - Infinite Arms

Gorillaz - HillBilly Man

Sufjan Stevens - Heirloom

Bon Iver - Woods

The Lonely Island - I Just Had Sex

joyeux noël

I got a ukulele for Christmas. So far I can kind of play the demo version of Talking Bird by Death Cab for Cutie that they released on their newest EP. Someday I want to be able to play like this girl:

Eminem feat. Rihanna - Love the Way You Lie

Bruno Mars - Just the Way You Are

People are probably going to read this and either think I'm a total bitch or that I don't know the meaning of Christmas.. but I am pretty pissed about the gifts (or lack thereof) that I got from my uncles.

Each year my Uncle Jeff gets really bad gifts for everybody at Christmas. I understand that his family doesn't have a lot of money because his latest wife put them in hella debt when she decided she needed to take college classes and become some kind of nurse secretary thing. But I don't understand the point of wasting ten dollars on shit like crossword puzzles and ugly Walmart t-shirts - things that people don't really need - when you can just give them $10 or a gift card to somewhere. It just seems like a waste. You're putting good money to bad use by wasting it on things that aren't going to be used. This year they got me a $1 t-shirt that my aunt found somewhere, some kind of weird fluffy socks, and a hairbrush... I don't even want to know what was going through her head as she was shopping for me if she thinks these things are needed by me. Last year they got me a book of crossword puzzles. The year before that I got a computer game.. a really cheap, stupid one intended for children. It's just aggravating considering I'm a poor college student living on my own. I could use $10, not a hairbrush.

My Uncle Greg, who isn't broke and got everyone really nice gifts this year, didn't get me anything. He gave all of the adults homemade jam and gift cards and all of the kids got candy and games and whatever. I didn't get anything. His excuse was that I'm an adult now and he didn't figure I would like homemade jam. .......Seriously? I love homemade jam. Corinne's dad makes it and it's pretty friggin' fantastic. The least they could have done was given me a gift card like everyone else.

I think I'm irritated mostly because I spent my own money on all of my relatives to buy them nice things and I wasn't gifted in the same manner. I have a $400 insurance payment due the first week of January. I would probably have money to pay for that if I hadn't been a good family member and bought presents for everyone. But now I don't and my mom is pretty peeved that she's going to have to pay for it.

Now that I've blogged about it, that issue is out of my system. I'm not going to think about it anymore. I'm just going to lay in bed, watch the Office and play my ukulele, and hope that the next two weeks fly by. I'm ready to see my friends back in Utah and start another semester of school.

Also, because it's been a while since I've done a #funfact:
Does He Love You by Rilo Kiley makes me cry. It has since the summer before my junior year. I re-downloaded all of Rilo Kiley's music last night and discovered an acoustic version of the song. It's slower and more heartfelt which, of course, made me cry all the harder.

Rilo Kiley - Does He Love You? (Acoustic)

Rilo Kiley - Does He Love You?

OH AND here's what I started out the day wearing:

But mom didn't dig the cut-up Girl Scouts shirt so this is what I wore for the rest of the time...

I have such style.

oh man

I just had a very legit freak out. AND TO TOP IT OFF ITS THUNDERING. IT'S GOING TO STORM WHILE I WORK. UUUUUGH. Anyway, back to my freak out. The other day I bought some new nose rings for my tragus but BECAUSE I'M AN IDIOT I bought the wrong size. But I was too lazy to go back and exchange them so I just put one in my ear anyway.. Today I went to take it out and clean it and I almost couldn't get the damn thing out. My ear had closed around the new ring's size and it was so small that I couldn't get the back of the ring into my ear to take it out! I finally got it out ....

LOL THE POWER JUST WENT OUT. Oh yeah, tonight's gonna be great. I can feel it. (Can you tell what kind of mood I'm in? ;))

Well, I finally got the ring out BUT THEN I couldn't get the old back in. So I'm standing at the mirror crying and freaking out that the hole I paid $65 for and spent the last four months nursing to heal is going to close up. Oh man. OH MAN. It was terrible. But I shoved the damn thing through and hopefully it'll adjust back to the old hole size. If not, well.. I'll be in Salt Lake in a couple weeks and I'll just get Patrick to fix it for me DAMNIT.

Okay.. Calm down, Sam.

(Possible new livelavalive shirt)

I'm starting to learn the basics of French using a podcast called Coffee Break French. And last night I watched Coco Avant Chanel to see if I could pick up any kind of French. The only thing I remember is Qui qu'a vu Coco? which is a song that Coco and her sister sing. It's SO catchy, as is La Femme Torpille. I want to learn both of them but the language is so fast and such a bitch, so we shall see.

i'm home!

The title says it all. I'm hoooome! I don't have to sit in a car for countless hours with my family anymore! YAY!

We got into town right after 11. The original arrival time was supposed to be 7, but we stopped for gas a couple times, along with food and shopping in Zona Rosa. I was angry that we hadn't stopped at a single Noodles whilst in Utah or Colorado, so we stopped in KC for that. Then we went to a Best Buy to try to find me an iPhone 4. Sadly, all of the Best Buys and AT&T stores around that area are either sold out or have some in stock that are reserved already. So I'm on multiple waiting lists and hoping that someone calls me soon. Oh, and the great news about my new iPhone? I don't have to pay for it! I asked my mom if she would get it for me, as a parting for college gift, and she agreed! How ridiculous is that. I had mentioned at an earlier time during vacation that I'd like a television for my dorm room and she was going to get that for me, too. But I told her a phone would do over the TV. If I really end up wanting one, I'll find a cheap one after I move to Salt Lake.

I've added two credit hours to my schedule for first semester, making me a full-time student. Here's the class Corinne and I have decided to take:
  • ESSF 1015 - Cycling - Elem; TH, 7:30-8:20 am
Yeah, it's gonna be intense. Now that I'm back in Trenton, Rose and I are going to start running together at night. I want to be in better shape when I move to SLC and I'm hoping this will help. I just don't want to be panting and struggling for breath as soon as we start class, hahah. Speaking of struggling for breath...

Hahahaha. I saw this gif on tumblr and couldn't resist posting it on here. I'd love to credit someone because it's so ridiculously amazing and supermegafoxyawesomehot, but I couldn't find the source on tumblr. So, props to whoever made that shit. It's great.

I think I'm going to curl up in my bed (my bed! yes!) and read Eldest a bit more, then go to bed. Rose and I have plans in the morning to see each other for the first time since the day before I left for Kentucky.. at the end of June! UGH. We've been apart for so long. :( Anyway, goodnight everyone.

PS: My mommy bought me a fancy $40 case to store my laptop in while we were at a Best Buy tonight. The inside is seriously softer than any of my blankets. I want to shove myself inside it and live there forever.

orientation

I'm feeling sad and sick. So I'd like to share with all of you a video. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, this scene ALWAYS makes me cry. I'm not a fan of Robert Pattinson a'tall, but I bawl each time I see this. When Amos Diggory runs down to Cedric saying "That's my son! That's my boy! My boy!" I just die. It's so sad.

Today was orientation. It was long, boring, and hot. I got sunburnt and I was only outside when we got a tour of the campus and for lunch. I only have 11 hours, making me a part-time student, so I have to get another class. But as of now, these are my classes:
  • Film 2100 - Intro to Film; M, 6-10 pm
  • French 1010 - Beg French I; MTWH, 10:45-11:35 am
  • Math 1030 - Intro Quant Reasoning; MWF, 11:40 am-12:50 pm
I might try to switch everything around cause I'm not a big fan of my schedule right now. After orientation, I got to see the dorms and they're actually really nice. And the rooms aren't small like I'd figured so I'm pretty pumped. I also kind of met one of my suitemates, Corinne. I say "kind of" because I saw her multiple times and we waved, but we only talked once and it was for less than 30 seconds. So that kind of sucks. But we'll have a whole year together, so it's not a big deal.

After we left the college, we had dinner at this place called Su Casa. A friend recommended it and says he loves it, but I wasn't impressed. I got a cheese quesadilla and chicken enchilada and both made me feel sick. The quesadilla was covered in grease and they just tasted strange. I only had a couple of bites. I ate the enchilada but I didn't enjoy it. The shell fell apart too easily and the chicken inside looked/tasted like frozen chunks instead of fresh chicken. I prefer El Nopal in Trenton. I don't know how I'll be able to survive without them after I move here. :(

Now we're back at the hotel again. Jonathan's swimming while the rest of us chill and relax. I think we're leaving tomorrow.

Guys, oh my god. A Very Potter Musical is so addicting. I watched the entire first act again today and made my parents watch it with me. AND I CAN'T STOP QUOTING IT. If you haven't seen it yet, click this shit right now and WATCH IT. If you don't find any of it funny, you have no soul.

It's gonna be totally awesome!

I worked 11-5 today. It's literally the worst shift evar. Normally no one comes in until 11:45-12ish and the place is cleared out before 2. Then you ice the bar, sweep tile, hokey the floor, and you're done before 3.. leaving two hours to stand around and do nothing. Unless you work with Lisa, meaning you go around the restaurant cleaning everything in sight for two hours. It blows. Today was more dead than usual, since it's a holiday weekend and everyone's getting ready for tomorrow. We had a party from 12:30-4 but they kept to themselves and cleaned up afterwards, so I didn't have shit to do. haha. THEN I was filling the napkin dispensers and a giant cockroach crawled out at me! So I told Lisa and we spent the longest time spraying for bugs and moving/cleaning out the booths. Yuck.

When I got home I read more of Deathly Hallows, cried a bit, and watched the first two Toy Story movies. Now I'm chillaxing and watching all of the videos from A Very Potter Musical. It cracks me up so much. The girl who plays Draco - Lauren Lopez - is definitely my favorite.

"Pigfarts is only the greatest wizardry school in the galaxy.. it's where I'm being transferred next year."

I want to go to Pigfarts. It's on Mars.

wants

I really want to start vlogging. But I don't only want to do it from my MacBook. I want to record all of the things that happen in my daily activities and show the world. I have a Vixia HV40 but my band director lost the firewire for it. In a nice enough gesture he bought me another one.. but it's a 9-pin to 9-pin, when I need a 4-pin to 6-pin. So I just bought myself another 4-to-6. The only problem is that when I want to upload my footage, I'll have to use the Dell downstairs and it's gone to shit since I stopped using it. My brother has downloaded tons of games and Nickelback songs so it's slow and crappy now. So that will really suck. I wish I would have bought a MacBook Pro that comes with a firewire port. Oh well. I plan on buying a Flip Cam soon enough. But I also want a new camera, ipod, and the iPhone 4. I know for sure that I'm going to be buying the new iPhone before I leave for college. Can't go off to a new state without having the most up-to-date shit, I always say! (Actually, I've never said that before now). ANYWAY, yes, I am so pumped for that. Frontward AND backward facing cameras? iMovie on the go? I can't wait.

While I was in Kansas City on Monday, I returned that white dress I bought a few weeks ago. I didn't really think that white material would clash so hard with my white skin. But it did and looked terrible, so I took it back. I now have a dandy little Forever 21 card with $21.32 on it.

I like this dress a lot, but if I buy it I'll only have $1.44 left on the card. So I'm gonna wait and hope there's a Forever 21 somewhere on the way to Kentucky that will have this dress in the size I want.

Oh, also! A few days ago I posted a video of one of YACHT's live shows. Yesterday I saw a commercial for the new 2010 Cadillac SRX Crossover, which features a remix of YACHT's song 'Psychic City.'

I have the biggest crush on George Clooney. He just turned 49 a month ago yesterday, but he's so smokin' hot.

I want to see his new movie, The American, even though last night at 0:33 Rose went "He's trying to give himself head! OH MY GOD. That's really interesting Jeremy, but I'm gonna go home and eat myself out" and made me cry and miss part of the trailer.

Oh and here are some hot pictures of George:
