december depression

I seem to have come down with a bout of December Depression. Basically it's this idea that Skipper has about why he always gets depressed in December. It's not quite winter, the weather is real gross and it's just, you know, the worst. I don't know. He's told me about it multiple times but I always seem to tune out cause I never believed in it... UNTIL NOW.

I found it really hard to leave my room until Wednesday. That means I was stuck in my apartment for four days... watching How I Met Your Mother... crying in the shower... and being overall pathetic. On both Monday and Tuesday I told myself I should get up, get ready, Trax down to the library, and then sit at Starbucks all day reading my newly acquired book. But I couldn't do it for some reason. Instead, I'd get in the shower and stay there for a good 40-60 minutes. I wasn't even productive. I'd stand under the water with my head against the wall either chipping my fingernail polish off or just... standing there... Then I'd get out, throw on the same pajamas I wore the day before, and then watch an entire season of HIMYM and be asleep by 9:30. Seriously. It was bad. Finally I made myself leave though. On Wednesday.

What better depression-killer is there than shopping!? I went to the Gateway, popped in to all of my favorite stores, and somehow managed to only spend $70! Whoa!
Forever21: Black cami, Speckled Pointelle Top, Boxy Colorblock Top; Victoria's Secret: Lounge Bralettes.

This morning my good friend Natalie asked me to come visit her at work in Park City. She went off to California for the fall semester to help out with Invisible Children and just got back a week or so ago. At first I was really pumped to see her and then stop by the Outlets and pick up some gifts for my family. But then I remembered the Outlets in Branson had the Disney store, not Park City. So I decided not to go. BUT THEN I remembered how terrible I felt Sunday-Wednesday when all I did was sit on my bed watching Netflix, so I ended up going. :P

Natalie works at this super cute shop called Dolly's Bookstore, where the owner lets her two cats run around and be loved on by strangers. They were seriously so fluffy and soft and amazing and made me miss Kanye (he's living in Ogden for the moment). I bought a couple of PC postcards and a book, loved on Nat and the cats, and then walked up and down Main Street for a bit. AND GUESS WHAT I HAPPENED UPON, GUYS!
WHAT? BANKSY IN PARK SHITTY? NO WAY, RIGHT? Yes way. I heard about him tagging a few places in PC when he was here for Sundance but I thought the policia had removed all of it.

I did end up going to the Outlets after visiting with Natalie. I bought a shirt, 2 cardigans and a hoodie from American Eagle; lots of soap and lotion from Bath and Body Works; and cookie sheets, a spatula, knives, tongs, and some dish towels from Kitchen Collection. Pretty stoked about my haul, not gonna lie. :)

forever 21 please.

I've been trying for the past couple of days to convince my mom to give me her credit card so I can go on a shopping spree at Forever 21. My reasoning is that I need nicer tops to impress my friends in Utah and make them like me more. She's like, "your friends must be really shallow if they don't like you in your current clothes." No mom, I'm the shallow one. I want to look nicer. Once I showed her that most of the items I want are less than $15 she seemed to cave a bit.. so I'm hoping that by next week I'll be in Kansas City buying all of these things:

My trip also depends greatly on how the weather is next week. Ever since Friday, tornadoes have been ripping the Midwest apart. Joplin was completely wiped out on Saturday, along with a few places in Michigan and Oklahoma. Today a tornado touched down in Sedalia (only 2 hours from here) and then sirens went off in Chillicothe, the city 20 miles from here where my mama works, and freaked everyone here out.

I want to go back to Utah. :(

crimson nights

So on Thursday, Corinne and I were driving to the gas station to get drinks when my car hit 123456 miles!

But I took the picture right as it changed to 123457.

Later that night Paul Kim made me dinner again...

Made me drive him to sushi again...

Then made brownies in my kitchen until 2 am again...

Yesterday at work we did a bunch of Easter-related activities. We set up three stations outside for the kids to go to. Mine had sack races and three-legged races; Majik had a tug-o-war rope set up; and Beckie and Laura did a race where the kids had to carry a spoon in their mouths and balance an egg. Then we had an egg hunt around the school. It was really cute and fun. I got a sunburn from the two hours we spent in the sun.

Three-legged race: Mirian and Kristy take the lead as Juan and Eli struggle to get back up.

After work, Corinne and I met up at the Gateway to find me an outfit for Crimson Nights. If you're not familiar with Crimson Nights, it's this huge party ASUU throws in the Union every couple of months to bring the students together. There are carnival rides, henna tattooing, free food, and a dance in the ballroom that's basically just a big drunk orgy.

This guy was running around the Gateway showing off his nice booty.

This was the shirt I bought at F21 to wear to Crimson Nights.
I wore it over the first black dress shown in this post along with some leggings and black vans.

Now Stuart, Paul, Ryan and I are sitting in the library studying.. kind of. I've been blogging for the last hour, Paul's been reading every newspaper he can find, and Stuart is.. I'm not sure what's he doing. Mostly he's been staring at me. Ryan's the only one doing any actually work. I'm trying to convince Corinne to come down to the library and study Islam with me but she keeps rejecting me. Story of my life.

UHHHHN TIP

ITS BEEN A WHILE.
hehehehe

Before I forget, I want to throw out a couple of things:
  1. You should probably click here and be impressed with my ability to successfully do a 30 day challenge. Somehow, I could do that but not blog... hm.
  2. Over break I discovered a band called Cœur de Pirate and I am in love.

Et il m'aime encore, et moi je t'aime un peu plus fort.

Break was not a good time for me. I kept going between being pissed and being sad and it was exhausting. I watched the first six seasons of the Office, watched countless classic Disney movies, and read 3 Harry Potter books + a ton of French poetry.

The first week back in Utah wasn't a great time either. I came in to it on the edge of a depression and things didn't look up when someone (we won't mention any names ;) ) decided it would be fun to call things off, turn them back on, then go back to being indecisive. No one has the slightest clue about what's going on there even now. So that's been fun! (sarcasm)

Semaine deux wasn't so bad. I was relatively happy. Things were improving everywhere and I was finally starting to get out of the slump that Missouri so graciously put me in. Then we hit the weekend. Davis Powers, that little lump of a boy, always trailing after Black (or was that Peter Pettigrew? teehee), decided to remove me from his life because I wouldn't give him someone's phone number. Bit of an overreaction, eh? Apparently it had been a long time coming. So that ruined a good part of my Friday night. But I managed to drink and not cry or puke so I guess some would call the night a success? Haha. Saturday was spent the same way as Friday (Little Big Planet 2, movie, free Domino's pizza) but without the drinking. Then Sunday night rolled around and I discovered that yet another person had removed me from Facebook - and I assume - from their life. That was a huge blow and ruined my night. I lost my appetite, was on the verge of tears at dinner, and resorted to curling up in a ball of pity after Corinne left for Scott's. haaaha. I don't really want to talk about him anymore since he and his girlfriend read my blog apparently? Wouldn't want to give off the wrong impression, like I want to be his friend or anything. Yeesh. That would be terrible...

Anyway...
I really want this dress:
so pretty

#funfact
It's very common knowledge that I'm a picky eater. People seem to be asking me a lot lately what foods I do and do not like. Here are some foods that I definitely do not like:
  • Raisins, peanuts, cantaloupe, mango, peaches, pears, apples, grapefruit, peanut butter, steak, catfish, pork, peppers of any color, hummus, milk, raw carrots, pineapple, watermelon, calamari, sausage, hamburger (usually), cream cheese, sweet potatoes, scrambled eggs, ketchup
And for foods I do like, since people think I'm too picky to like anything:
  • Strawberries, bananas, grapes, oranges, tomatoes, mushrooms, salt, pretzels, cooked carrots (but only with roast so they're not very carroty tasting?), potatoes, broccoli, celery, lettuce, eggs (overhard, broken yolk), Froot Loops, Honeycomb, Special K Fruit and Yogurt. lol.

me gusta

Blogging for the sake of blogging, must be discouraged, for our tried and tested traditions...

Am I really such a nerd that the first idea to blog about tonight involved a quote by Dolores Umbridge? Yes, yes I am. *sigh*

Anyway, what's up guys! Hold on, let's me rephrase:

What's up, my five hundred plus viewers! ;)

I'm seriously stressing right now. I have yet another French test tomorrow morning. So I have to study for that and do the 8 homework assignments I just found out about. And I need to study my math book to find out what the hell we're working on in class. I've now skipped three classes in a row and it's killing me. I'm only going tomorrow because I finally have the ten dollars that I owe Andrew for a brownie that I bought from him weeks ago. I'm such an awful student.

I went to Gateway with Corinne today and bought three sweaters from Forever 21 and two pairs of shoes from UO.

I could only find one sweater on the website and I'm not certain that it's even the one I bought. But it looks similar, if not exactly the same. Haha.

The shoes are this kind of style, but one pair is like gray vintage wallpapery patterned and the other is black with colorful floral shit. I was all for buying two plain colored pairs but Corinne refused to let me. I also wanted to buy this hat, but it was $34, so of course she wouldn't let me buy it either.

We had lunch at Costa Vida and out of the three Mexican places I've been to in SLC, it was the worst. The enchiladas were surprisingly good - I got pork rather than my usual chicken - but the black beans and rice were off par. Rubio's definitely has the best black beans and rice, with Café Silvestre coming up in second. Then I worked from 2-6, where I got my ass kicked at capture the flag by a team consisting of two second graders. It was pretty sad. Not much else has happened tonight.. Dinner with Werner, Craig, Corinne, Emily, Rosie, Laura, Joss, Craig's friend whose name I can never remember, and Pat. I totes creeped on Pat all through dinner, too. Definitely the highlight of my night. Craig, Werner and I actually created this really fabulous display of switching our chairs so I could touch Pat's hair but it failed hard because Pat was getting up to leave as we were executing it. Damn him. BUT. I did touch it. And yes, it is very soft. Me gusta.

utah vs sjsu

So last night was our homecoming game against San Jose State University and we DOMINATED. The final score was 56-3. :D GO UTES.

I don't really have much to say about the game. Sat with Corinne's family for the first half, then joined Rosie in the student section for the second half. The student section is so lively, I love it. Hopefully I'll get a ticket before the next game sells out so I can sit over there again. The next game against Colorado State looks to be my last one for this season cause the last game (against BYU) has been sold out since before school started. Maybe a miracle will happen that will allow me to get in, but we'll see. Next year I'll be joining the MUSS for sure.

I was looking at Forever 21 earlier this morning and came across a cardigan that I want.

Contrast Slub Cardigan $17.80

But look at that girl's face! It almost makes me not want to buy the sweater. That's a really awful thing to say, but damn. Look again:

I'm just disgusted. I really preferred when Forever 21 didn't include their models' faces in the clothing shots. >:(

Basic Knit Dress $14.90

Classic Sweater Dress $13.80

Ruffle Dotted Dress $24.90

After I get paid I want to buy some simple dresses like these three that I can wear whenever, not only to parties.

It's been a while since I've done a Forever 21 appreciation post.

Retro Striped Sweater $22.90

Vintage Sweater Cardigan $26.90

Vintage Woven Dress $22.80

Raglan Knit Top $19.90

Something I find myself not appreciating is how they changed how the models are photographed. They used to be shown from their lips down and now it's the models' whole face and body. And some of the models are really unattractive. Also, instead of showing the piece of clothing by itself on a mannequin with a white background, they only have them on the models. I don't know why, but it bothers me.

moar albums

I downloaded more albums.. no self-control.
  • Caribou - Swim
  • Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes - From Below
  • Freelance Whales - Weathervanes
  • Local Natives - Gorilla Manor
  • Tokyo Police Club - A Lesson In Crime
  • Tokyo Police Club - Champ
  • Yeasayer - Odd Blood
Speaking of no self-control, I went to Forever 21 again yesterday... Spent $50+ on two dresses, two solid color v-necks, and two brown belts. I'll upload some pictures of everything I've bought from Forever 21 in the last week.

$22.80 + 10% off, $19.80

$22.80, $22.80, $13.80, $4.50, $5.50

I have every intention of wearing these with the second black dress in the first picture.

No pictures of the v-necks cause they're just solid colored v's. One's white. One's gray. Anyway, last night Emily and I were modeling our new purchases to figure out what we should wear to party in this weekend. We're going to color match each other and it's gonna be totally awesome.

So party outfit #1 for me is the black dress on the right in the first picture with the yellow shoes in the third picture. Emily's going to wear the first black dress and black heels. And party outfit #2 is going to be the olive colored dress with the first brown belt, the tan cardigan on the left, and either my olive boots or my olive Toms. Emily also bought an olive dress from F21 and we look sooooo cute together. When we finally get dressed up and go somewhere I'll make someone take pictures of us. :) I'm so exciiiiited.

facebook hates me

Emily and I went on an photographing adventure downtown today. It was sooooo cute. First we went to the library, where we both got library cards and took pictures of flowers and landscape from the rooftop garden! Then we headed to a place we dubbed as "Dirty Downtown." It's the last stop on the University Trax line and the place we got off at because I'm awful at remembering locations and made us miss the stop for Gateway. It's full of decrepit buildings, homeless people who talk to themselves, and trees with words like "ELVES" and "DORS" carved into them. We walked from DD up to the Gateway which, if you haven't been to Salt Lake City, is this big two-story outdoor mall in downtown SLC. Got a few nice pictures there but we mostly went so we could visit Forever 21. Against my better judgment, I bought two dresses, a cardigan type sweater thing, and two pairs of "panties." (Quotations because I always say underwear but panties is sexier, hahah *wink*). Emily bought a cute dress and some shorts and we agreed that if she wants, she can wear one of the dresses I bought. I tried to find my purchases on the Forever 21 website but I didn't see anything similar, so I'll try to post some pictures on here in the next couple of days if I get a free second.

As for the title of this post, I'm trying to upload some of the pictures I took today to facebook. But for some reason, it's taking minutes to compress and upload a single picture. And whenever I switch tabs to check on the progress, it freezes Safari. So I've decided that facebook hates me. Cryyyyyy. Maybe it's just my internet connection? *hopeful thinking* Hey, maybe Blogger will be nice and let me upload some pictures on here for everyone to see! Let's try it. Click on the picture to see the better, sexier version. :)

Dirty Downtown.
Gateway.
Garden outside of the library.
Beautiful green grass on the rooftop garden.

UPDATE: Only a hundred hours later, facebook finally uploaded everything. If you're interested in seeing all my pictures you can click on this text right here and if we're friends, you can view to your heart's delight. If we're not friends, hit me with a request. :)

wants

I really want to start vlogging. But I don't only want to do it from my MacBook. I want to record all of the things that happen in my daily activities and show the world. I have a Vixia HV40 but my band director lost the firewire for it. In a nice enough gesture he bought me another one.. but it's a 9-pin to 9-pin, when I need a 4-pin to 6-pin. So I just bought myself another 4-to-6. The only problem is that when I want to upload my footage, I'll have to use the Dell downstairs and it's gone to shit since I stopped using it. My brother has downloaded tons of games and Nickelback songs so it's slow and crappy now. So that will really suck. I wish I would have bought a MacBook Pro that comes with a firewire port. Oh well. I plan on buying a Flip Cam soon enough. But I also want a new camera, ipod, and the iPhone 4. I know for sure that I'm going to be buying the new iPhone before I leave for college. Can't go off to a new state without having the most up-to-date shit, I always say! (Actually, I've never said that before now). ANYWAY, yes, I am so pumped for that. Frontward AND backward facing cameras? iMovie on the go? I can't wait.

While I was in Kansas City on Monday, I returned that white dress I bought a few weeks ago. I didn't really think that white material would clash so hard with my white skin. But it did and looked terrible, so I took it back. I now have a dandy little Forever 21 card with $21.32 on it.

I like this dress a lot, but if I buy it I'll only have $1.44 left on the card. So I'm gonna wait and hope there's a Forever 21 somewhere on the way to Kentucky that will have this dress in the size I want.

Oh, also! A few days ago I posted a video of one of YACHT's live shows. Yesterday I saw a commercial for the new 2010 Cadillac SRX Crossover, which features a remix of YACHT's song 'Psychic City.'

memorial day

I have been so proud of myself lately. I have resisted buying anything from Forever 21 cause I need to be saving my money for college/dorm supplies. Instead of adding shit I don't need to my checkout cart, I've added it all to my wishlist. Well, today I broke my streak of awesome and gave in. For Memorial Day, Forever 21 made it so that you get free shipping after $40 instead of $75. Here are the things I bought:

Yeah, that's right. I bought the Techno Tribal skirt I mentioned in an earlier post.

needs

It really sucks being broke. I get aches all over my body when I start looking at things on the internet now, especially Forever 21. Seriously, my heart aches when I see cute things I don't need but would love to have and show off. For example, this cardigan:
I'm sure it would look really strange on me since I'm not that ideal super skinny girl with no curves/figure. But I would love to buy it and try it! Anyway, I'm saving my money up so I can buy the supplies I need for college (bedstuff, printer, fridge and microwave (maybe), toilet paper) and buy a couple other things that I think qualify as needs..

A new iPod Classic and a Flip SlideHD.

My iPod went crazy a few months ago and became 'corrupted.' It still plays music, but only certain songs. The other day I tried to turn on Head Automatica in my car and it froze and stayed that way until it died. It will only plug in to my desktop computer but then it makes the computer spazz out.. so I'm trying to convince my grandma that $249 isn't that much and that if she buys the iPod for me I'll buy my own Flip. I say it's a pretty good deal and she should take it since I'm offering the less expensive of the two. (The Flip Slide is $279). She argues that I have "two other iPods, an iPhone, and a computer.. do I really need another thing from Apple?" The answer? Of course I do. I don't put music on my phone cause I have apps that play music for me. My Touch is only used for other people's music and I refuse to foul it up with my own music. The Nano I have sucks, so I gave it to Jonathan. And my laptop is able to travel with me, but I want something smaller and more music friendly. I would rather store 160gb of music on an iPod than on my Mac. I dono, makes sense to me.
